had a great experience here. friendly staff, loved the fire place and the food was tops. loved the cheeks and the diddle-daddle was a cute add on to dessert. we had a romantic dinner and all went well. will defo be back.

this restaurant is located on an avocado farm and there is a guest house on the property. the food, atmosphere, music and serving team are amazing. the chef is the owner and cooks with passion. i can strongly recommend the seafood curry!!!

i just love zest its the best restaurant in the lowveld. innovative menu, executed very well, chefs personal attention as he often serves the food, international standard of quality food and presentation. lovely peaceful setting. and all this magnificense for not much more than you would pay at spur. what a great experience.

this is definitely better: better food, better taken care of details (plates nicely dressed, good appetisers, nice wine glasses), same price range, same nice view, better wine.

i had a fixed menu for a competitive price. started with a few fresh appetisers, afterwards a classic fruit (no apple but pear) salad. followed by a curried fish dish and nicely cut lamb.

friendly welcome, even for a lonely soul they had spare table even announced as fully booked. would go again.

food: fresh, entertaining, gastronomic adventure
service: we were one of two couples having lunch. the service was friendly and attentive. our server was familiar with the menu and helped us with our choices.
ambience: former farmhouse with modern fittings. low ceilings, intimate. i loved the floor to ceiling window into the wine and preserves store. cosy bar with fireplace. the view from the covered patio over the granite hills around nelspruit is spectacular.

we have been to the restaurant before and enjoyed it. this time we decided to spend the night in the guesthouse which was lovely.

unfortunately the restaurant hosted a children's party in the afternoon which would not have been a problem except for the fact that their parents got so drunk and loud and this carried on till after 11pm.

we moved tables 3 times to avoid the drunken shouting. we eventually went to bed, but could not sleep because of the noise. we requested the staff to do something about it, but they would not. we requested the patrons to keep it down again and again. eventually we got very angry.

the food was good, but we are really unimpressed with the attitude of management of the restaurant who really did not seem to care.

the guest house paid for our breakfast the next morning as an apology- but it was the restaurant who should have shown some decency and apologized and tried to do something about it

i've been to zest twice now and both experiences have been exquisite, from the friendly timely service to the outstanding, delicious food. it's one of my favourite restaurants and i go whenever i can, the 3 hour drive from joburg is absolutely worth it. the food is pricey, but i reckon its worth every cent. this last visit we had only vegetarian dishes, and i was pleasantly surprised by how fantastic the meal was. cannot wait to go again and have some meat next time.
