i literally dream about their dimsum. i wish i could go here for dimsum every weekend. bring all your friends and family so you can try more things (and split the bill, it can get expensive if you go by yourself). i don't even waste my time going elsewhere, and all the locals around here know that yangtze is the place to go if you're serious about wanting to get the best dimsum in the cities.

lunch buffet is always great and the menu items are awesome. service is always spot on too. we've been there dozens of times over the years and never had a bad experience. our "go to" place for chinese.

i've been going to this restaurant for takeout and an occasional sit-down dinner with my kids since 1996. so it is very good. whenever i eat at a chinese restaurant, my "go-to" dish (read: my barometer of the quality of chinese food) is kung pao chicken. by far they have the best. it's just unbreaded chicken pieces, tons of peanuts, whole dried chilies; all in a rich, dark brown hoisin-based sauce. yum! the simplicity of the four ingredients is what makes it so good. no baby corn, no bamboo shoots or any thing else to distract from the simplicity of the perfect blend of sweet, salty, spicy and savoy. but it's not too spicy-hot. my two youngest sons have been ordering it for years. so, if you want it spicy, order a side of chili oil. if you order a pint of rice, instead of the normal half pint, it serves two. enjoy.

great takeout, tough location to find. we enjoy the takeout. its a pain to get to the restaurant. the old cooper theater at least had access from the west. front desk is friendly and efficient. we like the sweet and sour soup. this is what keeps us coming back. food is always hot and tasty.

center poor - food great. don't let the dumpy little strip center that this restaurant is located in fool you. also, don't let the actual look of the restaurant fool you.

the food is great.

recommend - egg drop soup - bbq pork - sizzling duck

solid dim sum. yangtze has a good solid menu with all the dim sum basics. i missed some of the more specialty items (char sui ribs, salt and pepper squid, etc) but what they do have is good. most of their pork mixes, like shumai, have cilantro in them so be warned. my mother can't stand cilantro so that limited the dishes she could eat there.

make sure to go early or plan on waiting. this place gets very busy for dim sum after 11.

staff is all wonderful and there's quiet a few familiar faces if you've been doing the "dim sum scene" in the cities for any amount of time.

yangtze is my #2 favorite in the cities.

great to know this is in the twin cities. i visited in november 2011 and was happily surprised with the taste and quality of the weekend dim sum. i subsequently went to another (not to be named) restaurant in boston that wasn't nearly as good in terms of the quality and freshness of the ingredients.

outstandingly good food. i was encouraged by the positive reviews here and chose yangtze for dinner tonight.
it's very soothingly decorated in light colored wood and wall paper with soft red and gold tones and cream. i was greeted cheerfully, shown to my table and soon visited by my server, wendy. i had a very nice glass of shiraz, followed by an excellent cup of hot and sour soup. nice rich broth, loaded with all the usual goodies and a nice sour note with a peppery finish that only seemed to materialize on the tongue after swallowing. i savored each bite.
for the main dish i had mandarin beef--wonderfully tender slices of beef with bright green pea pods, sunset orange carrots, baby corn and mushrooms in a terrific spicy (garlic/ginger) sauce, delivered on a sizzling platter. it was perfect.
the price was very reasonable too at $22.00.
i give yangtze 5 stars! great dinner.

we went for the dim sum on a sunday and the place was very busy. we were still seated within ten minutes of arrival. the choices were great. the food tasted great.

of the dim sum places we've tried in south mpls, this is the best.

i usually don't like chinese food but this place was actually pretty good. the dishes don't taste like every other dish which is what tend to happen at chinese restaurants. great drink list with a good variety of imported beer.

yangtze has the best dim sum in tc. yangtze is definitely the best dim sum available in the twin cities!
we have been going there for years and keep going back. the wait is often out the door, but their steam cart items are always the best.
we have tried mk in bloomington - yuck.
we have tried junbo in richfield - yuck - don't bother.
yangtze is our favorite!
