had dinner here. they have seating indoors and outdoors. had the crispy potstickers as a starter (fantastic) and for the mains we had spicy green curry with seafood medley (superb) and the the ankle biters (average). service was great. ambience is good but the passing trains was a quite loud.

its a lovely buffet of vietnamese cuisine. the veg and non-veg both sections are superb. the only drawback is its packed all the time and one may have to wait. but the wait it worth every bit.  they are very innovative in their buffet.

great atmosphere and good food selection. the dishes are very unique and the food is very flavorful. try the garlic shrimp...very nice size shrimp and good portions.

i’m happy to report that my second visit to hnvx was better than the first one, and the first one certainly wasn’t bad at all. with a wider sampling of the menu literally under my belt, i’ve upped the om-nom-eter™ a tick from its previous reading.

i used to like xanh when they first opened. over the last year, their food has gone down hill. what used to be imaginative dishes with fresh ingredients and cpmtrasring textures now is just fried. their fried calamari is now heavily breaded with a bizarre five spice mixture served over a messy pile of greasy fried onion chunks. their "ankle biter shrimp" might as well be the same thing. shrimp fried in the same batter, served over the same onion mess. the only difference is the shrimp dish has a fee peppers tossed in. both dishes are very disappointing.

the bar is still decent for castro st., but unless they get their act together skip the food.

okay but ... fusion, maybe. but for xanh is that a good thing? i recognized the oriental feature of the dish(es) but the authentic, traditional tastes are better than xanh's offerings which i found flat and wanting.

what's worse is that it does not warrant paying $$$$. i guess an mv location has a captive, professionally-employed audience.

it could not compete with sf fusion i.e. betelnut on union st, for example.

for good, $$ priced traditional chinese try gourmet carousel on franklin st, sf

this take on vietnamese fusion is deliciously liberated and as seductive as watching the sunset from phu quoc beach.

excellent food and very interesting decor. gets very busy thursday through sunday. be aware that the employees, especially the women that work there, are extremely pretentious. too bad because otherwise both times i've gone there were near perfect.

must eat at xanh. i've eaten at xanh several times over the last few year, and each time gets better and better. great happy hour, very cool atmosphere. the food is amazing! my favorites are the misfit rolls, prawns with garlic noodles, and shaking beef. for dessert, the menage a trois should not be missed. service is consistently great. xanh is my favorite restaurant in the bay area, hands down.

great. my wife's said she was waiting for the diminished returns on the food, but it never came. we got the pineapple short ribs and a chow mien dish and both were great.
the dessert was very good (but probably not worth the cost) but the rest of the meal, service, and ambiance were outstanding.
