after rather a lot of walking around the city, over previous days, the sight of word of mouth, on albert street, was an extremely welcome one, as a good bowl of hearty soup was top of my list, and i’d heard good things about the quality on offer there.
a charming little cafe, with a lovely retro feel to it, they match a good menu of brunch and lunch favourites with a warm welcome.
with soup mode fully engaged, i was delighted to hear that today’s choice was sweet potato, lemongrass and coconut. i ordered a bowl of that, and took a seat.
the soup was soon with me, accompanied by a good chunky slice of bread. it proved to be very tasty, with a well-judged use of lemongrass to perfume the dish but not overpower it. it provided me with just the restorative i was looking for.
so overall, i was very pleased with my brief stop at word of mouth. i’m told their eggs benedict is worth a try, so i look forward to visiting again to sample that.
