what did i eat?. after reading the reviews, i decided that hitting up wok to go for lunch one day would be great. i've had my fair share of hole-in-the-wall chinese places, and i went into it optimistically. i ordered the orange chicken combo, and the service was quick and friendly. the food itself looked really good.
the first few bites, i really enjoyed. the rice isn't the best i've had, but it's nice, and i enjoyed the two bits of steamed broccoli and my egg roll. the chicken...well, the sauce is nice. it has a lot of flavor and orange peel in it. my only issue with those was a painfully obvious red dye of some sort in both the rice and the egg roll, on the bits that i assume were pork. the "chicken," though—
most of us somewhere know that the meat in these kinds of places isn't always the best, or even what it's called. but this is the first instance in which it progressively got worse in my mouth. after four pieces or so, i couldn't even chew. the fried bit and sauce would be gone, leaving a hard, stringy meatesque substance in my mouth that i had to spit out. if it was chicken, it was not a desirable part of the bird.
i really wanted to enjoy this place, but now, three hours later, i'm just feeling slightly ill after throwing away more than half of my lunch.
