enigma. this place puts dive in dive bar. limited liquor selection and its cash only. however, the burger will knock your socks off!

best burger i've had in a while, ask for chopped up jalepeños in the meat and sugared sweet potato fries!

one of the worst places. ugly rundown place in a unsafe area with rusty bottle caps in the unpaved small parking lot. no sink in the dirty small bathroom-it was in the hallway. can sodas so you do not get free refills. fries were horrible-old and had no salt/seasoning and were not hot. ketchup brand was monarch and it was cheap and tasted terrible-they need to get heinz. messed up my son's burger twice so he was not able to eat much of it since he can't stand onions and the waitress was told twice he did not want any. they tried scraping it off in the back since it came back out in just a few minutes but they missed taking some off and he almost got sick right there at the table. had to pay $9 for it anyway. my burger was surely not even close to the best burger i have had. there are many other places i would go. i will certainly never return to this dump. i am sure this joint is hardly sanitary. they should close the doors and bulldoze this old place down to the ground. i should have trusted my gut feeling when i drove up and gone somewhere else.

a hidden gem for sure. the jalapeno burger is amazing. they cook everythingto order, but it is well worth the wait.

it's true!. i have been reading all the great reviews and finally was able to wrap my hands around one of their big, juicy cheeseburgers. it was wonderful. the best burger i have had in ilm, better than 5 guys, althought they are still my second choice for a good burger. the tavern is old and funky but remember you are going there for the food, not the ambiance!!

a friend of mine said the best burgers in town are at winnie's tavern. dh and i ate there the other day.

it's located off the beaten path - a small place that was pretty much filled when we arrived.

service was a little on the slow side, but we didn't mind. i could see folks enjoying their food.

i had a cocktail and dh had a beer. i ordered the 1/4 lb burger with american cheese and bacon; dh ordered the larger burger.

it seemed to take a while to get our food, but once we got it, we dove in. i have to say our burgers were excellent. my 1/4 lb burger was the perfect size for me. both of us chowed down. yes, these were very good burgers.

dh was impressed that he was able to get onion rings without any additional cost, unlike other restaurants. good job winnie's!

looks can be deceiving -- winnie's looks likes an old roadhouse and it's pretty tiny inside, but the burgers are excellent. the fries could be a bit more plentiful, but the bacon and cheese winnie burger is terrific. winnie's is first and foremost a burger joint, but with a bar and a solid beer list and drink specials. other apps (e.g., fried pickle spears), sandwiches (e.g., club, grilled chicken) and sides round out the tasty menu.

definately the best burger in wilmington. the staff was friendly and the service was prompt. the atmosphere fits the hole in a wall atmosphere but all the best food comes from places like this. you won't be disappointed.

like is such a weak word!. this was an awesome burger! i had the jalepeno burger, double. it was incredible. the chipotle sauce is not one to miss either. not too spicey, just right. the atmosphere is like home, and i will be back again!

great food !!. we were looking for a non-commercial dining spot,, looking through all the listing winnie's was on my mind. so off we went in search .. omg the service and food are wonderful. don't let the outside fool you. we will be back often.. thank-you so much for giving us the best burger in wilmington

good stuff. they lived up to their name, best burger in wilmington. i wouldn't change a thing about the place. love it!

hole-in-the-wall goodness.... whatta burger! juicy, thick and perfectly charred on the flat top. spend the extra buck for the awesome onion rings instead of fries. wash it down with a daily beer special and enjoy the (lack of) ambience at the bar. special place...special burger. not in the mood for a burger? try the fried bologna sandwich! (and, fyi, they do accept credit cards now...)

good burger. not what it used to be.. winnie's has undergone some changes recently. they used to have, hands down, the best burger in wilmington. the dive bar atmosphere, simple menu, great prices, and juicy burger were what kept us coming back every week. but with some management and personnel changes, we have been a bit disappointed. it is still a good burger at a good price, it's just not the burger it was. they seem overcooked, not put together as well (our cheese wasn't even melted), and one of us got exactly two pickle slices in the pickle cup that is included with each burger. sadly, we won't be going back anymore because we remember how good it could be.

for first timers, you will still be impressed with their burger but for everyone who went to winnie's before the changes, it's just depressing.
