williams eatery marks itself as the fifth cafe i have tried from urban lists best brekkie cafes in auckland. i can definitely see why it has made it on the list. the look of the cafe, decor, tables and design is very modern. i came here with my husband on a sunday morning so we had to pick from the brunch menu.
this menu was very different compared to any other brunch menus we have come across. i felt the brunch choices were very different to what i was used to: cauliflower, brussel sprouts, no main dishes centred around bacon etc. so i struggled to decide which dish to eat. however, i appreciated the fact that this menu catered to various dietary requirements: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free.
i ordered the hotcakes. i can hands-down say they were the best hot cakes i have ever had at a cafe before (or the best hot cakes i have ever had, period). they were light. they were fluffy. the crumb on top gave that sweet crunch. it was so delicious! that mandarin curd was creamy and smooth. there was a generous amount of brown butter on top. all in all, it was an incredible dish! i love that there were only a few elements to the dish, but the few elements were executed to perfection! butter, crumb, curd & two hotcakes. superb!
my husband ordered the beef ragù with a fried egg. the beef just pulled apart and was so tender. seasoned well & presented beautifully. tasted beautiful.
they use flight coffee. it was made well. not burnt.
ultimately, you can tell the produce they use here is fresh and quality. overall, food was incredible! service was good. we weren’t waiting too long for our dishes to arrive; and when they did arrive, it was definitely worth the wait!
