if that's the best bbq in va, then you guys need to come to the south. i had the pulled pork, brisket & jerk chicken...everything tasted 3 days old!

this is the worst bbq i have ever had. i had the pulled pork and jerk chicken both awful. the pork was dry and the chicken had no flavor at all...no smoke....no jerk...no nothing. i tried it only because of their ratings. honestly this has to be the worst i've ever had.

peanut butter pie and dulles bbq. willard's is a decent place for barbeque, and they have a good selection. i tend to get the sausage or the burnt ends for mains and the black eye corn (which is a mix of black eye peas and corn) when i go there. i always save room for their peanut butter pie, which is my favorite item on the menu. if you're headed to dulles airport, it's a good place to stop on the way and pick up something to eat at the airport or on the plane. the best alternative i've found at the airport is the 5 guys in the commuter terminal, and i'd much rather get takeout from willard's.

baron cameron location in reston
ordered nc pulled pork platter - mediocre, mashed potatoes were not right, best thing on the plate was the cornbread
will not go back

my spouse' plate - mac and cheese was mushy, beans were hard, crunchy, brisket was mediocre

not a good value for the price

had the most wonderful tasting bbq brisket. the smoke flavor and smell throughout the beef were wonderful. other than the seats being a bit cramped, it was a great place to hang out, eat and chat during the lunch hour.

hot open-faced brisket sandwich. very good meal!!!

-----27 aug, 2014-----

good place to eat. i grew up cooking in a sc bbq restaurant. i love eating bbq from different areas of the country! the food quality is very good and the service is fast! i had the hot open brisket sandwich with mashed potato, green beans, and corn bread. the potatoes were homemade, the green beans were cooked with ham and the cornbread was fresh and moist. i the read other review's, all i have to say is i will be back for more!

taste was not for us !. mari and i wanted to try willards since it was highly marked as a good place to eat for bar-b-q, the place was pretty empty which is never a good sign... i had the burnt ends special mari had the baby back ribs. sad selection for your drinks guess not for the guy that was chugging all the tea down while waiting for his order. the burtnt ends were very smokey and tang everything else was just simple. mari said the ribs were also the same, guess we like are bar-b-q with a little sweetness. for the person who likes their bar-b-q very smokey they may like this place. we did enjoy our stay in chantilly though !!!
rating for food - d+
service - d+ (reason employees had no customer service skills at all highly recommend training for the staff, subway at least greets you !!! )

so-so @ best. visited on a monday evening. the fellow behind the register didn't seem to be a native speaker and hard to understand with the jacked music volume. half of the soda selections had "out of order" across them.

half the tables were empty - because they all had various spills or crap laying around. i chose the marginally "cleanest", which still had paper pieces laying all around. really - are they even trying?

then i tried the food - mediocre burnt ends seemed terribly bland, until i sampled the sad coleslaw. the slaw had to have been purchased at the safeway down the street - no taste, except a touch of bitter spoilage from sitting around too long. the mashed potatoes were pretty smooth and tasty with a fair amount of pepper. i didn't bother to eat the cornbread based on my other menu items.

i came, i saw and won't be back.

i've had the nc pulled pork and the johnny's combo sandwiches, both were wonderful. it is a vinegar based barbecue and i like the southern style smoke pit, but i will argue these two sandwiches are as good as it gets. i truly look forward to each time i go back.

bbq done wrong!!!. was in va for business, looking for a local place for descent bbq (im from ga so im skeptical, i would find a place). saw willards review on here figure i would give it a try, will never go off reviews again. the ribs were tender and had a good smoke taste to it im not big on sauce but if i was the ribs would have not been the highlight (glad the sauce was on the side) other then that everything else was terrible!!! i have family from louisiana and i cook cajun/creole dishes never had dirty rice with gravy nor with the gizzards/sausage or any type of meat missing. guess in va thats dirty rice (white rice with gravy). my second side was the bake beans or should i say mush beans (picture refried beans in a bland red sauce). from a true southerner to another.......stay away your better off going to franchise famous dave which is not the best but better than willards. oh and the sweet tea was weak!!!!!

the pulled pork was the best i have had in northern va but the beef wasn't the same. my friend loved the beef so write that up to my personal taste. i have been back numerous times and will continue to est here. overall i'd give 9 out of 10 stars.

i had the jerk chicken platter. the chicken was perfectly smoked, with tender, moist meat throughout. what really made my day was finding the jerk rub throughout the chicken and not just on the skin. it brought a pleasant taste to the meal. the green beans and baked beans were fantastic. each side had subtle hints of additional flavors that were nice. for example, the green beans had a hint of vinegar and just the right amount of smoked ham. my only negative about this place was the lack of seating. we waited outside until a few patrons left to grab on of the few booths. all in all, we were at the nearby expo center for a show and decided to take our chance with this place (it is in a strip mall adjacent to the center). we were pleasantly surprised and we will definitely stop there again the next time we are in the dulles area!

average at best. okay to try once, but they fell short in too many of the essentials. if you go, get tue pulled pork which was quite respectable. but, the flavor of the ribs was almost non-existent - although the texture of the ribs was excellent. the main sauce was all tang up front with no follow-through of identifiable flavor. so, i tried their "gold" sauce, which looked completely different but tasted exactly the same. no fries, which a detractor for me personally. however, their excellent mashed potato gravy made it easier to bear. the sweet tea was more like an arnold palmer. they allowed me to switch to something else, thankfully. the meat was better with no sauce at all. it's always good to try something new. but, considering that the combo platter was rather expensive for the quality of flavor, i'm not likely to be back.
