wild rose tap room and brewery located in the curry barracks off of crowchild is considered to be one of "calgary's best kept secrets" and one of james' favorite haunts to take people new to calgary or visitors to our city. i have always complained he hasn't taken his wife so he carted me there for some brews and pub grub. here is a view of a few distillers that you can view from the tap room.

i went to mount royal for a couple years so i have been here several times. the beer is always good with a decent selection and rotating taps. the food really surprised me, i have really enjoyed everything i've had. location is not ideal

i enjoy coming back here after a few years off. they obviously have a following after many years.
with new breweries and brewpubs popping up, i feel that wildrose has to step their food game up a bit. the food is decent but there's nothing special on the menu that's "signature" and it's weird to have western food and pho on the same menu - you can't be good at cooking all foods! my friends pho was forgotten so they comped his dish which was really nice. bruschetta was decent. my bangers and mash was a ton of potatoes but bangers were dry. let's see what happens when they move all their production down south.

i just love you guys. great beer, awesome atmosphere and delicious food. whenever i feel a bit homesick ( i moved to canada 4 years ago from germany) and would like to have a beer hall feel the wild rose brewery is my first choice. and the moment i bite into my best wurst and take a sip of a nice beer any homesickness disappears.

bad keg experience. i bought two kegs for a party memorial day weekend. spent $300.00, tapped the legs properly, and they were extremely foamy and extremely flat. barely any life left in them. i brought them back in and the lady at the front accused me of lying. saying we drank almost all of both the kegs when in fact we didn't, i just emptied their horrible beer out of them as best i could onto my acreage lawn so i could transport them better and they wouldn't be so heavy and distructive in the back of my vehicle. i really hope they give me a call back and have something positive to say about my experience. as a business owner myself, i would not want my customer service representatives, representing my company in a way that accuses their customers of being liers... i'm definitely never going back there, my business will never purchase anything from them for functions, and i'll make a point of letting everyone i know (lifetime calgary resident) about my experience. haven't been treated like that in a very long time.

update:
still a great place to go have a beer, but unfortunately i have to say the food has really gone downhill the past couple times i visited. sadly i'm decreasing my original 4.5 rating to a 3.5.

--------------

what a great addition to calgary's brewery scene! the tap room has a really cool beer-centric, industrial vibe, and all the staff are very friendly (not to mention super knowledgable about beer!). each main comes with a recommended beer pairing, which is a pretty cool concept. after much deliberation i decided to try the pulled alberta brisket sandwich with a side of beef & barley soup (16.95). i have to say, it was pretty delicious. the bbq sauce had great depth of flavour, and the meat was wonderfully tender. the house made pickles added a welcome crunch and acidity to the rich meat, and it all came on a fresh pretzel bun that supplied the perfect bun-to-filling ratio. the beef and barley soup was also really good, featuring a rich savoury broth.  i also sampled the blackened chicken club (15.95) which was very tasty. it came with a side of corn chicken chowder (the soup of the day) which was really, really good - creamy and delicious! i'll definitely be back to try more of their menu!

came here to surprise my boyfriend with somewhere new. he was very excited to try out the place as he really enjoys their beer. love the feel of the restaurant. quanzat type feel but by no means run down or neglected. food was very good and the beers they had were tasty and ones we hadn't tried in the store before which was exciting. staff were friendly and helpful with suggestions. sucks they're not closer to us.

this place is always amazing. the beer is great, the food is phenomenal (bison or pork nachos, pretzels, pizzas, etc, etc, etc), and the staff is seriously the friendliest in all of alberta (canada even). but the best part? im a dessert fiend and they make the best cheesecakes! last night i got their cinnamon dolce cheesecake with white chocolate, and i had to repeatedly check my pulse as i thought i'd died and gone to heaven! i'm so happy to live within walking distance to this brew house, and i definitely recommend it to everyone i talk to.

i've enjoyed wild rose for many years now and have visited with just a friend, other couples and even larger groups. we've always been well looked after. today the "old gang" met for lunch and a beverage. we had a great time. the food was tasty, service efficient and friendly, and the venue is perfect for a group to meet, chat and catch up. did i mention they have beer? they have very good beer. check it out.

you simply cannot argue with the amazing atmosphere and price point of the pints. the food is simple yet delicious and the location however tucked away it is seems to draw out all the colorful characters in the mru area .that combined with a 20oz $6.50 pint of micro brew make this a must visit in calgary

i finally came here & i am glad i did. the servers are super friendly & very attentive as soon as my beer was done they where there to see if i would like another with lots of info on all the beers. i ordered the phyllo wrapped brie with maple syrup & pulled albertan bison brisket sandwich. the phyllo wrapped brie was amazing everything worked together beautifully its a perfect appetizer. the sandwich was also very good the bison meat has a great flavor but can be very dry but there's was very good.

they're beer and people are always fantastic. and i usually have great food when i visit as well. however, when i visited this time the brewers lunch was not up to their usual fare. the bread was very dry and there was more pickled vegetables than any meat or cheese combined - which you would usually expect with a plowmans lunch. it wasn't bad by any stretch, just not up to the standard i have come to expect from them.

smoked salmon and beer flight. outstanding smoked salmon and beer flight.

-----11 apr, 2015-----

outstanding beer, had the flight of 8 beers and all were very good, lots of flavor. the food is outstanding, all have included one of their beers in the recipe. also had the smoked salmon which was excellent and good combination with the beers. it's located in an obscure location but follow goggle maps and you will get there. if you love craft beers you need to go to wild rose.
