great place to dine. varied menu options that will accommodate any foodie. great bar scene as well.

what a delightful place! the decor is all dog!! so fun to look around. great service and true artisans in the kitchen preparing scrumptious foods with local and fresh ingredients in delicious flavor combos.

ordered a center cut strip steak medium rare and it came out (after an hour and a half wait) with a cold red center! decided to eat it anyway rather than complain in fear of how long it would be to bring another! our meal ended up being $200 for the four of us...no appetizers and only two of us had cocktails! oh and they gave us one free desert to split to make up for the slow service, but it tasted down right awful! i'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on!

unreal french toast - cinnamon orange pecan to delicious to capture in text. you have to try it. very professional wait staff and wonderful patio.

i loved the brunch collection that they have and if you visit this place in the evening then the cocktails are worth trying!! ambience is lovely and lively!

the original white dog cafe opened in 1983 in university city, under the founding guidance of judy wicks. she was a clear pioneer in the farm-to-table and locally sustainable food movement that's on trend these days. and to that end, the majority of ingredients are sourced no more than 50 miles away. in 2009, restaurateur marty grims (think: moshulu & autograph brasserie) bought white dog cafe, under the proviso that the same environmentally sound model would be continued. and with grims' expertise and experience, white dog cafe has grown, with a second location opening in wayne and a third in haverford.

i went here for lunch and was extremely impressed by the quality of food, service, and the elaborate decor here. despite all the dog pictures, the place is quite elegant. i decided to sit at the bar, to which i was pleasantly greeted by the bartender. my friend and i started out with two beers and fried pickles (which were delicious). the bread and butter was also quite filling, so by the time my meal came, i wasn't as hungry. i had the mushroom omelette with swiss chard and my friend had the crab cake burger with brussel sprouts. to begin, the vegetables were excellent. whatever they cooked them in was full of flavor. the crab cake was delicious and my omelette was just ok. for dessert, we had the peanut butter chocolate bar (very small but rich) and the coconut tres leches bread pudding, which was absolutely scrumptious. this place is quite expensive, but it's definitely a treat!

came to white dog with ibriz m for lunch. we were first seated at a wobbly table near the bar. after a few minutes of wobbling, we asked to be moved to another table. we were moved but the hostess was a little snarky. the food came out in a timely manner and was delish. the waitstaff was great about substitutions. my sandwich came with fries but i had asked for a salad instead, and i had thought about asking for no bread, but i didn't want to push it. other dishes were less generously portioned. another remarkable aspect of my dining experience was the decor. it was almost like restoration hardware threw up everywhere. also, kudos on the killer dmb/oar playlist.

today was my first time trying white dog cafe after hearing so many good things about it. i'll start with the decor; the dog theme is extremely obnoxious, we get it. i can count 10 dog portraits and statutes in the dining room that i'm in alone. don't even get me started on the dog paw tile in the restroom #overkill.

i had the plum salad + chicken and it was great but the serving size was... cute. i'm into being cute, not eating cute. had i not added the chicken to my overpriced salad i would have most likely starved.

my server, herschel, was nice and got the job done. no complaints on the service other than first being seated at a wobbly table 2 feet away from the front entrance (which to me is equivalent to being seated by the kitchen) before i requested to move.

overall, pretty good food but overpriced.

false advertising. we went for "restaurant week dinner" advertised at starting at $20 to $30
it started at $50 and mandatory that everyone at the table ordered the tasting menu. no one could order off t he regular menu or else there was no special price. $50 is no special price.

an enjoyable evening. i thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of white dog. beautiful yet simple interior, allowing for casual to business attire. the waiter was timely and pleasant which is saying a lot for a table of 8. subtle touches such as immediately asking what bourbon/whiskey i wanted in my old fashioned made me feel as though the wait staff was knowledgeable and well practiced. the food was simply delicious. i has a steak prepared to a perfect medium-rare, full of flavor. the rest of the party had nothing but positives to say about their meals, which rotate to capture in season ingredients. it is surely expensive, but if you are looking for a special evening, i recommend the white dog cafe as a top choice.

long wait. had dinner there last night for the first time (for our anniversary). we waited over 40 minutes even though we had a 7:30pm reservation. we finally took a table in the bar since they said another half hour for the dining room. if you are looking for a quiet table you will not find one in this place. the food was good but not great. the waiter however was very attentive and provided excellent service. that said i'm in no rush to go back.
