express order…sit down…eat! kind of like ordering fast food at the mall, but on a different end of the spectrum. located on 17 ave right beside khao san thai restaurant, watercress offers dishes mainly vietnamese dishes with a mix of some korean ones as well. the prices of the items are very affordable & the dishes that come out, looks like something from a high end restaurant. all the dishes i have tried have exceeded my expectations.

so tasty, so friendly!. loved the fresh wraps, specifically chicken chili lime. the pork spring rolls are very nicely done. plus the staff were all very nice.

i eat here pretty often as the food is fresh and the prices for the quality is inexpensive. i use to really like the lemongrass chicken sub but the last time i went there was half the amount of chicken that's normally in it. i would prefer if they charged more and put more chicken in it. two of my favourite dishes are the chicken and shrimp fried rice and the kimchi rice. if you are hungry, order an appetizer and a main. this ain't your typical pho joint (though watercress does sell pho, and yes, it is good). portions aren't huge but the taste and freshness is outstanding.

subs are unreal! very good for take out. their pho isn't as good as co do across the street. friendly staff but slow service. worth trying!

not bad. maybe my expectation was too big. food was just ok. but one thing i liked a lot was their cleaness and freshness. their food ingrediants are very fresh. also presentation looks good too. they kept inside of restaurant very clean.
i will try some sandwich next time.
their menu gives us lots of option which i liked. it's like little of everything. korean/viet/chinese/thai. they also need to improve speed for serving. i felt it's little slow. other than that, it was pretty good.

used to be my favorite modern vietnamese bistro because of its nuoc cham braised pork cheek bao. but now due to the change in management, the menu has completely changed. it just serves regular viet sub, pho and spring rolls. i do not see any of the "modern" element in its offerings.

very fresh and delicious. this place is absolutely amazing. the braised pork cheek bao is my favourite. i normally like beef in my bao and burgers, but the pork here is way better. the wraps and wings are very good for appetizers. everything is made fresh and the price is pretty good. when it's busy, it's definitely worth the wait. i like to come here often and try different things on their menu. their pho is very flavourful. i highly recommend people come try this place.

amazing food!. the food here is the best vietnamese food i've had. the flavours are bright and multi-layered - and so fresh! highly recommend watercress express - we'll be back often....

this is a place we’ve been looking to try for a long time. located on calgary’s bustling 17th ave, home to many delicious international cuisines, this vietnamese place was recently recommended by another local food blog: food karma.

this isn’t your typical restaurant as it has a bit of a cafeteria-style setup for customers who want to eat and go. you order and pay first (including tip) at the counter and the food is brought out for you. this place doesn’t hold many people, but we saw quite a few people come in and order for take-out.

wow! great flavor and presentation for many dishes! the owner david treated me to complimentary desserts and appetizers a couple of times, a very nice gesture. this is clearly the vietnamese joint to choose on 17th. quality and taste stands above the other options in this area.

i enjoy the pho sate:
- had fresh vegetables
- great broth flavor (i thought it was very clever they minced the lemongrass so the broth can fully absorb the flavors)
- good meat
- clean simple environment
- opens till 11pm!! will definitely come eat again when other 9pm places closes.

cons:
- spoon ergonomics is really wierd, too small to scoop broth or to put noodles on, and was long/narrow, awkward to place in the hand. not a soup spoon!
- hoison/siriachi sauce where?

beef kalbi sandwich was good but small. the side mini fries were good and different. a tad expensive for $11 but i'd go back and try other items!

decent food but really really slow. we came here because we thought it would be quicker with the "express" in the name but i've never waited this long for vietnamese food anywhere. they should take the express portion out of their name.
