great place for some awesome seafood. i have been working in walnut creek for many years and i have always walked by this place and gazed into the window seeing the magical things people were eating on a daily basis. well i have since been here many times and i can proudly say this is one of the best places in the area for great seafood. i do know they order their seafood exclusively from osprey seafood company and i know the high quality of their product since i have even toured their facility. well whether you sit at the bar or a table your bound to have a great time. if your with a group of people in the afternoon the bar is perfect for your friendly mood. at times i will go in alone in between shifts and find a seat at the bar and if full they welcome me to a table.
the prices may seem high but it is good quality seafood and it still beats the prices at scott's seafood down the street. of course it depends what you get and what the price on that item is depending on season. you have to remember your paying for the great quality of seafood and really big portions.
for starters i love the crab cakes-pan fried and served with an orange aoili and a shaved fennel, red onion and jicima salad with a horseradish dressing. and the cornmeal dusted calamari tossed in parmesan cheese with a creole remoulade sauce. the mahi mahi tacos with shaved red cabbage, cilantro-cumin cream and avocado salsa. now we have fish tacos where i work but after walking by so many times seeing people eating these things i just had to try them and i'm so very glad i did. i'm not much of a salad guy but their seafood salads look sooo good and huge. the fish and chips are also darn good and try the gumbo ya ya if you ever get the chance, it really make me want to go out and get some beads.
as for the market grill i highly recommend the alaskan halibut, wild king salmon and my favorite at the yacht club, the pacific swordfish. the catfish looks pretty darn good as well but it is catfish and for that kind of fish i don't think i want to pay $18.50. each entree comes with sauteed green and yellow beans in almond butter, choice of roasted garlic mashed potatoes, regatta fries or fisherman's rice and choice of sauce for your catch. and just listen to all of these sauces...
marinara/ ginger soy sesame/ romesco/ lemon aoli/ creamy wasabi/ stone ground mustard and dill/ spicy calypso fruit salsa/ creole remoulade/ wcyc tartar/ citrus scallion butter/ spicy indonesian peanut / pesto.
and save a little room for some sweets! may i suggest the peanut butter cheesecake and the paradise ranch peach and spiced oatmeal crumble.
if you have a large group of family or friends they have an outdoor covered patio along the side that is great for any private get together. and they have recently began remodeling as the new york pizza next door shut down to leave more room for growth. this place is really gonna be quite the hot spot in walnut creek, take my word.
it can get a little pricey for me working next door to this place because if it were up to me i would eat here every day. now if i can only get myself a date so i can try that lobster! :)
