may 20, 2015 in my neck of the woods, the georgetown area of dunwoody, is the new home of the atlanta wine school and vino venue.  if you don't live in the area, fear not, it is easy to tuck into, just off 285.  vino venue really puts you in control of your wine tasting experience.  you can fill a vino card with a preset $ amount and help yourself to a taste, half glass or full glass of wine(s). chose from any or all of the three dispensing stations.  one white/rose', one low to medium priced reds and a top tier red station.  if you need a little more direction and are on the novice end of the wine drinking spectrum worry not, there is a sommolier to help. here at vino venue that is michael bryan.  there is a menu of wine friendly food availble, mostly tapas and a handful of more substantial entrees and sandwiches. additionally inside vino venue is a well appointed enclosed private event area featuring an open kitchen where head chef cidney wilcox teaches and prepares food for the classes and wine dinner events.  you can keep up with these events and many others around town on culinarylocal.com.  a convenient website that features a variety of food and drink events in the metro atlanta area (expanding to other cities in the near future).   yves neidlinger, the ceo and founder of culinarylocal, took his passion for cooking and dining  and created a local marketplace to help food and drink lovers discover local cooking classes, drink events, dinner experiences, culinary vacations, farmer’s markets, festivals food-related volunteer projects and much more.   there are so many food events on a daily basis and atlanta’s large food and spirits loving community can find many of the delicious activities and the businesses that offer them through culinarylocal.com . event organizers can list with culinarylocal at no charge and get more exposure via social media, newsletters blog features and more to increase event attendance.

the waitress and the gm were incredibly rude!. my 3 daughters and i were going to have a nice dinner and it was ruined by both the waitress and the general manager. i had purchased a groupon and it had expired which means you get the value of what you have paid. as soon as the waitress found out we had a groupon, she became short and rude. she informed us of what we could order and how much we would have to pay. we were treated as if we had committed a crime by buying their groupon (that they negotiated to get more business in the first place). when we explained to the waitress that we wished to spend the groupon dollars differently and asked to speak with the manager, he was insulting and just as rude. he said "this is what you are going to do". we promptly said no we would take our business else where and left. groupon was great about refunding our money. who needs to be treated rudely and told what you can order when going out for a nice evening?

incredible. had a fantastic night last night at vino venue. the food was incredible, we had several small plates to share and a bottle of bugey-cerdon. the wine was a great, rob (one of the managers) said that they only make 4,000 cases a year. i was happy to be able to try such a rarity. the wine did not over shadow the food. if you go, i suggest that you try the 24 hour short rib and the lobster mac-and-cheese, but really all of the food was incredible. be sure to go with a group of friends so that you can try a little bit of everything and share several bottles of wine!
