amazing food! definitely recommend the herb tomatoes. great bourbon selection and great wait staff!!

i travel a lot and always look for a nice comfortable place, this is it, great selection of whiskeys. comfort food.

had the village burger and lobster mac. both were fantastic! the burger was cooked perfectly and the glazed onions, bacon, and fried egg on top were to die for. the lobster mac had giant pieces of lobster. we also ordered the french fries that came with pork? those were disappointing. the s'mores shake was killer!

good food but tight seating. the burgers were juicy, the fries were delicious and service very friendly (they brought our friend ketchup for his expensive fries, no snootiness here) but i don't recommend this place for groups larger than four. we had two little tables pushed together and had a great time but larger groups really should look elsewhere. for a date night couple, the seats are close so you may not get the privacy you desire.

amazingly poor service.

i’ve been wanting to sample the famous whiskey king for a year now. this burger is layered with bacon, bleu cheese and foie gras with a spread of caramelized onion for sweetness. it did not disappoint – juicy and melt in your mouth goodness.

it takes me a while, however, slowly but surely, i try to get around to all the stephen starr restaurants and all the jose garces restaurants in philly. this post features two from garces: back in april for a belated easter meal, i took my aunt to dinner at garces trading company (1111 locust street) .  and 2 weeks ago, i was treated to a belated birthday dinner at village whiskey (118 south 20th street) . see below slideshow for descriptions and tine ratings: you know me, i'm happy just to be out there dining and taking in the atmosphere.  however, my overall impression of garces trading co.  - the tin roof makes for an entirely too noisy dining experience.  at village whiskey, the cost of the sides to top one's burger is a bit over-the-top considering the burger itself already cost $11. here's some past write-ups from others around the city: philadelphia magazine - of all of philadelphia’s multi-concept restaurateurs,jose garces might be the most original. whether at spanish-inspir

vastly overrated! didn't hate it but didn't really like it either. food was very bland and had no seasoning. we shared the fries with cheddar sauce, village burger, lobster mac & cheese, and tater tots all of which were much less tasty than the better versions i've made @ home. vanilla shake was just weird having been really thick but not cold. it's pretty creepy when you start to think of how they might have done that. well, overall pretty disappointing, but we didn't have to wait for a table, so it's ok. i can safely say that i feel no need to come back, and perhaps i'll contemplate changing my career from md to iron chef!

one of the best burgers i ever had in my life! and i've eaten a lot of burgers. drinks are spot on amazing and very different. definitely coming back soon.

everything we expected. friendly staff and only $15 corkage. have the king burger and duck fat fries....great atmosphere...cozy and comfortable

the deviled eggs suck, but the burger was very good.

the service was great especially at the bar. the food especially the house specialty burger was great. one of best in the east. they do a great job with the whole menu

a gem. stopped in first time for drinks this evening after work. great atmosphere, execellent service, wonderful cocktail menu, i shall return.

tourist take... the style was great and the place was clean. the food and staff were great. i especially liked the presentation of the food in creative dishes. the prices were on the higher end but worth the visit.
