while the food was good the service could have been better. it was only little things but within our group it was meals with no cutlery or napkins, having to chase up missing sides and mains. a good experience but could have been better.

what a great place for the family to unwind and relax. this has is massive but has such a great atmosphere. loved the food options and the service was great. all the food came out at the same time and the kids meals were huge. will definitely be back.

the atmosphere here is amazing. service is fast. great selection of drinks. but food here is overpriced. i ordered a bar a burger and hubby ordered the steak burger and our kids ordered chicken and chips and their food was bigger then ours. yet our burgers were double the price. the steak was so thin and lacked flavour. but the kids meals were big that we ended up finishing it off for them. come here for drinks and maybe a cheese platter only because they have done well with creating a great place to hang out. food is a question mark.

the breakfast salmon dish was way too salty. the salmon + capsicum both were a mouthful of saltiness, it was overwhelming to eat. i think the chef should take this off the menu.

this was our second visit to the victoria park bistro & as last time it was wonderful. sooo kid friendly with a huge play area & a jumping castle (sunday only). today we had breakfast with was yummy. coffee wasn't the best i've had but passable, definitely could have been hotter & stronger. service was good & the venue is beautiful, so leafy & green. just makes you want to kick back & stay all day. highly recommend! we did putt putt afterwards which was busy but the kids enjoyed it, my wallet however did not.

jett rink and big daddy ordered a large plate of slow cooked bbq glazed pork ribs then settled in to sip their champagne at a bench outdoors in the bistro near the overhanging flowers and a fine view of brisbane. "i'm telling you rink, that ancient corinthian cup they keep in the oxley library should be on display here at victoria park; it's herston history, brisbane history, queensland history, and has no place hidden in a cardboard box." "not a bad idea, big daddy. if you discover the brains trust here in brisbane, maybe you could put it to them." cindy-lou walked into the victoria park bar and bistro open area at the victoria park golf course with her red headed caddy, a young frenchman in tow on a something or other visa named archie, carrying her golf clubs: "why does zomato say the golf course is in bowen hills when it's here in herston, and on herston road to boot, jett?" jett rink ignored the question and said:  "what yawl doing to me cindy-lou?" he and big daddy interrupted their mid-day champagne drinking before lunch and were now standing like good southern gentlemen do when a lady enters the "room". he continued: "yawl trying to embarrass me in front of my oldest and closest friend with that ranga-haired labradoodle on your tail watching yawl wiggle like a wiggle?" jett turned and gave big daddy a wink. the two men remained standing for the young woman dressed in white shorts, a polo shirt, pink cotton hat with a brim and golf  shoes with little socks. "now jett, you know i don't like those mind games of yours, and you leave this fine young boy alone." the tall and thin brunette, seeing the gentlemen share a smile, huffed up: "this poor boy don't hardly know a word of english, funning at his expense unable to defend himself, and let me remind you i'm half french descended myself from my louisiana ancestry, as well as descended from the chitimacha people, of course, but that's another story. now are you goin' to invite this poor boy to sit down and have a ricard or pernod, or embarrass me?" jett smiled and shook archie's hand and pointing at a chair said: "sit down, son, when the young lady's seated, of course, and meet my friend, big daddy, lately called 'toad of toad hall' by the court for his driving enthusiasm." big daddy kissed cindy-lou's cheek, and pulled a chair out for the 20-something pale complexioned beauty. jett said "put them clubs down anywhere son, and have a drink with me." jett helped him take the golf bag off his shoulder and they all sat down. archie had never seen a top end bottle of champagne before and holding the glass full that jett poured for him, without even taking a sip, stared at the bottle in the ice bucket in disbelief. "only in australia," he thought. cindy-lou continued: "and why do they call it victoria park bar and bistro, when it should be herston park bar and bistro, big daddy?"
"a very good point, cindy-lou," bid daddy remarked.
jett turned to archie still oblivious to the young man's lack of english and said: "we usually share a big plate of slow cooked bbq glazed pork ribs, archie, can we count on you to join us?" jett pretended to eat. "now don't you take the mickey mouse out of archie, jett, he likes fine cooked ribs like the rest of us," said cindy-lou. "don't you archie?" he smiled not knowing what she was on about, but he certainly did like the ribs, and dug in like a student on a visa does when food appears.
"love the view here, rink," said big daddy. "never get tired of looking at a city that likes to make a dollar."
"you ain't bought one of them underground concrete car parks to make money out of troggs have ya big daddy?" jett asked? the ribs were delicious.
they ordered some more, and a salad for four and more wine: a bottle of panton hill pinot noir if they had it, and if not, any thing else close to "great".
"any word on that call to get herston on the national heritage list, rink?" "not a word." "the silence of the shams," big daddy replied. "maybe i'll give gina a ring," big daddy continued. "they'll then be jumping higher than a sheep over a fence, and asking her if it's high enough," "jett," cindy-lou said, "can we get some peroni for archie? he said he's mad about beer." "a mad bear?" jett asked. "mad about beer, now stop it." peroni was ordered for the table.
edna ferber arrived wearing plus 4s with tennessee williams behind carrying her clubs. "glorious day, people," she said. big daddy and jett stood and archie followed. edna and tennessee joined them, and they all sat.  "do i frighten you, child?" edna asked cindy-lou. "no ma'am, i just kind of feel like a school girl and all." "and you look like a school girl beside mr rink. how old are you? 22?" "no, ma'am, i'm 24." "she'll be wanting babies soon, rink," big daddy commented with a smile.  edna and tennessee ordered burgers and a bottle of red. "great place, mr rink." "it certainly is, ma'am," "civilised place, here in herston," tennessee williams offered. "and the suburb where the first premier lived when it was just a farm." big daddy commented: "it should be on the national heritage list, tennessee." with an abundance of food and wine and beer on the table, the group settled in.

nestled in inner city brisbane at the golf club the bistro suits all palates and ages. have a drink after a round of golf and plenty of snacks and a few meals. grass fed steak sandwich was perfect. ask them to make what you feel like and it’s their pleasure. beautiful surroundings relaxed and very casual. don’t be put off by singlets and ink a plenty - this is 2018. music is a somewhat frenetic and detracts from the ambience.

we went here for dinner last week for a friends birthday. the ambiance of the bistro was nice and given the size of the group the meals came out extra quick which was probably a bad sign as that means everthing would have been pre-cooked and reheated.
the menu was pretty boring. i ordered the ribs which were well cooked but really sweet.

this place is all about the location. situated in an oasis of green but with brilliant views of the cbd it makes a great spot for a casual and relaxing meal or drink. excellent for families as well with playground and numerous games at hand within viewing distance of your table. the food is average to above average and on the pricier side but goes down well combined with the views.

i have been a big fan of this place for a few years, but the last few times we have been it's been quite disappointing. a few weeks ago we discovered that a jug of soda water out of the post mix tap cost $12 and its cheaper to buy a bottle of mineral water, which is just ridiculous! and last night we found out that there is trivia on thursday's which is fine, but they have a limited menu and no kids menu, which was very disappointing as we had specifically booked for our 7 year old's birthday dinner and no one mentioned this on the phone. it has the potentially to be great, but the bistro seems poorly managed.

city views, great food, strong coffee, kids' playground, jumping castle, mini golf... no i haven't just made a parents' wish-list of somewhere to go on a saturday morning (well, ok i did). these things can all be found at one venue: victoria park. located in brisbane's inner-north, victoria park is an awesome place to hang with your brood, ensuring everyone has a bit of fun.

the food when we got it was good but very slow service. we waited far too long for a bottle of wine to be delivered and this was the theme of the night. they have an amazing venue with great views of the city. please put more staff on and step it up a bit.

we had a nice round table reserved inside under a fan beside the amazing musician. it started to heavily pour down with rain so we were glad to have made the booking!

tomato salad: 2/5
the tomatoes were a bit soggy and the rocket tasted like the smell of squished ants! the burrata was nice and the kalamata olive oil dressing was good. it was way too expensive for what it was. ($22)

lamb: 4/5
very tender and full of flavour. the potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside with a good amount of seasoning. loved the basil pesto. the tomato was unfortunately soggy.

chicken schnitzel: 1/5
the chips were undercooked and soft. the aioli was nice. the schnitzel was average.

cheese burger: 4/5
delicious and juicy patty on a fresh bun. the chips were soggy.

gamberi pizza: 3/5
as far as wood fire pizzas go, it was pretty average. it didn't have a lot on it. basically just some herbs, prawns and cherry tomatoes with a white sauce base. i thought it was quite sparse in terms of toppings and lacked the flavour you might find in a genuine italian pizza.

our combined ratings average 2.8. it is probably all worth about half the price.

victoria park bistro and bar - food hit and miss. i had the market fish and panzanella salad. fish lovely with a crisp skin but the salad was less than desirable- some large chunks of hard bread,a couple of olive halves together with pip, one small tomato, plenty of basil and basil pesto. i left hungry as portion size was small. others in our group had massive meals - chicken parmy, battered fish and chips. some of the group complained about the lamb as it was rather fatty. next time (if i go there again) i will order differently.
