bad food and expensive to boot!. a friend and i stopped at the veranda bistro today for some lunch. we both ordered the souvlaki dinner, lamb. the lamb was tough and dry, the pita bread was soggy, and the rice had little flavor. paul's downtown serves a better souvlaki dinner than the veranda bistro. on top of all that, the price for two people's take out lunch was $39.24 cents....that is steep for lunch...i won't be back.

great place. my daughter and i found this place by accident. she ran in and picked up a menu, brought to the car ... one look and i parked and went in for some excellent dishes. have looked for a place that had greek dishes in the area for years. everything ordered was great and best baklava (besides my daughters) i've had anywhere, can't wait to go again.

this place is amazing. the mussels in marinara sauce are so delicious, we caught ourselves using the shells to spoon it up! the staff is attentive and friendly. prices are good and food is great!!!

out of the way but good. well our trusty gps took us the scenic route through some neighborhoods and when we came around the corner there was an exxon gas station and she told us we had arrived! i thought...that can't be right! this great italian greek place was great. the pizza looked great. the spaghetti with meat sauce was some of the best i have ever had. my husband thought the hummus was terrific. the service was great as well. we had to wait a bit for our food but it was worth it!

excellent tzakiki sauce. owner very friendly. scrumptious desserts--especially the carrot cake. the greek food ws very tasty. can't wait to try their pozza.

great food!!. we love the veranda! we eat lunch there every week. the gyro is my favorite!! the calzones are huge and are incredible! my friend loves the moussaka and says its great! the service is fast and friendly!! please give them a try if you are in the neighborhood! dont forget to try their deserts!!

traveler. traveled through roanoke on may 30, 2011 with my wife. found the veranda bistro and checked out the positive reviews. we chose to sit on the veranda it was a beautiful evening and the setting was great. we were attended to promptly. we chose greek and settled in to enjoy a pleasant dinner. then the food began to come. first up were tiny so called greek salads. pieces of white ice berg lettuce didn't help. my main course was the gyro plate. the gyro had two small pieces of meat. the potatoes were cold as was a tasteless bean side dish. my wife order a greek chicken dish. the chicken was tough and obviously had been previously cooked and then reheated. her food was also barely warm. bottom line was this was the worst excuse for greek food we have ever had. may the greeks forgive them.

just left here. ate on the veranda. the lamb was perfectly cooked. the service was excellent and my newcastle draft was cold. don't pass up this gem.

very friendly staff. at the table we had pizza, cheesesteak calzone, gyro and pastichio... everything was delicious! plan to visit again.

wonderful place for lunch or dinner. this restaurant serves the absolute best calzones i have ever had, and their marinara sauce is the best in the valley.

it is a casual atmosphere where you can dine al fresco if weather permits, and the service is always friendly and good.

in the colder season, the home made soups are a taste treat, and their onion rings are pretty great all year round.

not that great. i had the gyro plate and it was ok. i thought for $12 i should get more than three strips of meat on a gyro and 4 wedges of potato. my husband had a small pizza (good price and size) but thought he had have several better but it was better than any delivery. all and all just ok.

friendly and great food. i live close to the restaurant and one night my brother and his familly had just gotten in from st.louis, tired and hungry. we ran over to the veranda bistro and they were getting ready to close. the owner told us to come in, they locked the doors and served us an excellant meal. they go over and above in treating their customers well plus serving excellant meals. reminds me of a time when all restaurants used to do the same!!

great place!. it's an excellent little mom and pop place with homemade food by the owners, who are greek. some of the best baklava i've had anywhere, and the pizza's are to die for.
