my favorite sushi spot in the east bay. incredibly fresh and tasty, friendly and quaint.

the ambiance is minimal; the service is friendly and adequate. but the food is superlative, for a neighborhood sushi restaurant. the posted "specials" are (not surprisingly) particularly good.

best quality sushi & more. this is the place to go for high quality (yet reasonably priced) sushi and other japanese tastiness. i particularly recommend the uzen udon (comes w/tempura) or for sushi, the uzen roll. all dishes are exquisitely fresh and beautifully prepared.

sushi (vegan sushi, too) and sashimi are the strong points, but udon noodles, salmon free-range rocky chicken teriyaki, tempura, and katsu don (fried pork cutlet) all share the menu.

i think uzen has the best sushi in the bay area. sit at the bar for "omakase" sushi to get the best fish.
