university pizza

terrible customer service. will never order from university again. ordered xlarge pepperoni and as you can see from the picture, got an xlarge cheese some dropped a few pepperoni on. call to have them rectify and all i got was a gentleman that could only say "uh, sorry" that's it, uh, sorry...

the best pizza in norfolk!. i'm a pizza snob from the northeast, so there is one and only kind of good pizza in my world and that's nyc style. u pie has amazing nyc pizza! the best i have had in the norfolk area- still true after 2 plus years here. they make great wings too- the bbq come out all caramelized in a yummy way. way better pizza than any other place near odu or ghent. i've tried them all in the area and rank u pie best. the bar is a funky locals place too- service can be a bit slow or self-sufficient, but get of you butt and ask for more beer and than wait for your pie 'cause it will be worth it!

after having a not so great experience about a week ago, my friend and i decided to stop in for a drink and to watch some college hoops. we were happy to get a seat at the bar (it was a wednesday night so maybe things are quieter during middle of week). we had just had an amazing dinner across the street at chow and were stuffed! being pretty new to the area, we were happy that the bartender, mo, helped guide us through the huge beer selection. we tried a few different ipas but the rule g by smartmouth was my favorite. this visit was totally different than my last! mo shared her "locals favorites" with us and now i can't wait to try 80/20 burger bar. she made me feel like a "regular" and talked sports, told us about her kids, shared some funny stories and she told us about an event next week called "norfolk restaurant week". can't wait to check out some places next week. one thing i really liked about this visit was that with each new beer, mo made sure we had fresh cold glasses.another small detail i liked was that as mo was serving drinks she used cocktail napkins (didn't experience this on my last visit) and constantly picked up empty glasses, bottles and dirty plates. pretty sure nothing sat on a table if it was empty for more than a few minutes. i think she must be the owner because everyone, except me and my friend, knew her and most were greeted with a big smile and questions about grandchildren, pets, local sports, etc. i am so glad i gave this place a second chance! maybe it was the different crowd, but i'm pretty sure that it was are amazing bartender that made the difference. she even gave us her personal email in case we had questions about where to shop, local events, or things to see as i get used to living here. great service, great help selecting a beer (out if the over 40 brands) and an upbeat atmosphere. i even got to request one of the tvs be changed to a game of my alma mater. fun night, felt like we were vips and to end the evening, mo gave us a hug as we were leaving (we watched and almost every customer stopped and asked for a hug before exiting. love the feeling of a small town neighborhood bar and she said that if i brought my lacrosse jersey from college, she would make certain to hang it up and display with other sport items hanging. great bar, amazing service and very much appreciated the "extras" mo did to make me feel more like a local! thanks for a fun evening!

new to the area and looked forward to enjoying one of specialty pizzas during the bcs game lastnight. too bad the menu listed is incorrect. i did enjoy being able to order slices. just wish the service was as warm as the pizza. bartender was not very friendly and just dropped my slices in front of me and never came back to see if i needed anything or if food was ok.

great food, great atmosphere.... my daughter goes to odu so we've found ourselves near upie a lot lately. what a great find. the pizza is thin and cooked perfectly with a large variety of toppings. the beer selection is also outstanding, with several local brews, as well as several well known brands.

great neighborhood vibe and just a great place to hang out and have great food.

excellent neighborhood pizza pub. saturday evening we had a little shindig and when it came time to eat everyone wanted pizza. not factory pizza from one of those delivery places, no we wanted real mom & pop pizza. we decided to go to university pizza over on colley.

it's been a couple of months since i was last here and this evening we had 8 people in total. no problem at all there's plenty of seating inside and out front under the canopy. one of the things i really like about u.p. is it has a really good neighborhood vibe to it. you get an even mix of the local residents and college students.

my part of the group had the family special which was a large one topping pizza and a huge salad bowl that's probably large enough to serve 4 people. their large is easily the size of extra large pizza at most places, yet it's a thin nyc style pie. for beer aficionados they have many micro brews in the case as well.

in the back there's a pool table you can pass the time on while waiting for your pie, daily specials, large screen tvs and a full bar. you could call it a pizza pub. check them out if you're down by odu.

better than expected. not bad. not bad at all. university pizza is located on colly not far from odu's main campus. i stopped by for lunch on friday around 2 pm so there was no crowd. they have a large variety of bottled micro brews (can you say purple haze!) as well as a full bar.

the pizza is a new york city style and the slices, as you would expect, are huge. if you order 2 slices, you get them on 2 plates. :) out of all the local pizza places i've tried lately, this establishment comes the closest to achieving a real nyc style pizza so far.

the bartender was friendly and attentive throughout the visit. also the she greeted me when i arrived and thanked when leaving. the restaurant was also very clean and appeared well organized.

overall, 4 star's out of 5. i'll definitely be going back soon.

sunday's best!. university pizza, more dearly named upie is the best wing & pizza joint in hampton roads. take my word for it. sunday is the best time to hit them up.. the wings are 40 cents a piece & taste like a million bucks. the pizza pies are hand tossed to perfection topped with anything you can imagine. and the atmosphere... perfect, what a great place to hang with friends or meet new ones. any night of the week or even for lunch the best crowd in norfolk will be there. i love sundays at upie only way to get the beset of what they have to offer!

stopped in recently on a sunday afternoon to watch sports and enjoy wings. the wings were awesome but the bartender (who seemed very preoccupied with her large group of friends) rarely checked back with me. they have a huge beer selection and had i been able to get the dark haired server's attention, i would have liked to try a few. the wings were great (really meaty and liked that they weren't fried). i will give this place another try but not if i walk in and see that young bartender.

good pizza, nasty barwoman. take it from a nyer, the pizza is good with sweet crust which is chewy like it should be. the owner is a good guy as are most who work there. but there is one very aggressive, nasty female bartender who can ruin your evening in a nanosecond if she feels like it, and there is no logic to her meaness. the experience with her is a real turn-off so, unfortunately, the review is a thumbs down.

non smoking! great atmosphere! great food and beer selection!
