trudy's is one of my favorite place in austin. i've spent many friday nights over a mexican martini shaker, their signature cocktail which is famous all over the world.

they have an indoor seating area and an outdoor patio. on weekends they turn the parking lot into a standing drink-while-you-wait area. 

i'm a vegetarian so i usually go for the veggie flaquities dinner. it comes with rice and beans on the side. pretty delicious. i like having my mexican martini with the himador tequila and contreau. remember, they cut you off at 2 shakers! don't overdose on the free chips they keep bringing to you, you won't have room for what you ordered.

the service is efficient and the ambience is superb for watching sports and for general tomfoolery. i'm definitely going back.

well, this was my another venture for a new mexican outlet and i rated it 3 just because of its ambience and service. food was just average may be because of our strict vegetarian choice of meal. we had veg platter and tacos. tacos were quite disappointing since they mainly consisted of avocados which was too much overboard. the rice and beans were savior.
would like to try rather some drinks next time and skip eating out here.

ok, perhaps so not the best tex-mex i've had, but it was solid and the fact that kitchen is open late is a real strength. i tried several things (appetizer sampler, stuffed avocados, enchiladas, cholula chicken). i didn't really love the avocados, but everything else was really good. the cholula sauce is unique and delicious. i will definitely be back, especially if i'm arriving late.

this is possibly the best tex-mex in the world. best fajitas, best guacamole and awesome house margaritas. i have driven 3 hrs from houston to austin just to have dinner at this place. big fan! i wish they were a chain and i could visit in my city.

came here for my husband birthday and it was a great time! they gave him a free drink because it was his birthday! also trudy's has a great happy hour! make sure you try their famous mexican martini.

mexican margaritas. you can only have 2 per visit, but that's plenty. the salsa isn't very good, but their food is. the location can get crowded and they are not open for lunch most days. sit on the patio if you can, the inside is noisy and the tables are close together.

amazing service from our server eric, who was very knowledgable and recommended some great drinks/food. the food was great with very large portion sizes at a great price and the drinks were strong, which we appreciated. shoutout to the stuffed jalapeños, they were amazing and we would go back just for those!

trudy's is the only place have been in my trip to austin. it was worth every single penny. if you are die hard fan of some local tex mex food then this is the place. close to the uta so the crowd is hip and happening. mexican martini's are the best martini's i ever had. salsa was hot and spicy. food was classic. authentic tex mex food. make sure you order chili con queso and guacomole too...

mostly good - fantastic beans. we sat in the bottom part with stupidly loud music , but the service was good.

have to say this was just so-so. no wait on sat lunch but extremely busy. service ok. food came out cold. looks to have been waiting in the kitchen for 15 min before serving. will prob give it another chance not to soon though with all the great mexican restaurants there are here in austin.

got there on the sunday before spring break and it was very crowded. 40 minute wait but my party of 3 found a spot at the bar very quickly to have our meal. bartenders were great. both guys gave us awesome service and knew the menu items very well. drinks were amazing and food was great. they were out of a couple of menu items but we still found something we liked.
