the decor is scandanavian minimalist with indian twists, along with some random british pictures (including the classic shot of vinny jones grabbing gazza by the privates).  they have about 10 tables and can bring out a few more outside if the weather is nice.  there is good value to be found here, especially the 4 course pre-theatre menu for £25; the 5 course tasting is £40 and the 7 course £55.  the menu includes wine pairing suggestions if you prefer something more sophisticated than a bottle of cobra with your curry and they have an interesting and carefully chosen wine list.  i was a bit skeptical about wine with curry but the austrian zweigelt we had complemented the food perfectly – it

trishna is located in marylebone, and i have walked past this place quite a few times as i live quite close, and i had always wanted to go to trishna, and after i found out it was awarded its first michelin star in september i was even more keen, and when my friend steven suggested he wants to go for dinner and have some indian food, i was quick to suggest trishna. i have read a lot about trishna when they won their michelin star and also because they apparently have a great sommelier there, a wonderful lady, and she was there when i went for dinner on a tuesday and i did compliment her and tell her i had read about how amazing she was at combining wine with indian food, as it is not the most straightforward thing and has not been the most typical thing historically. but here in trishna every item on the menu also has under it written a type of wine that w

on a whole, the amiable and attentive service made the whole evening very enjoyable. the meal too exceeded my expectations. the food were well executed and all spices in each dishes were pronounced which showed the masterful restraint of the chef. this is a fine indian establishment and is well worthy of its michelin star. will i return? a resounding yes!

we went in group of 5 and all five of us loved the excellent tasting menu at trishna's, which offers real value for money its was delicious and resonable. overall the food was fantastic, with sea bream the outstanding dish of trishna's. the service was of a very high standard with staff happy to substitute dishes from the vegetarian tasting menu if required. everything from reasonable to eye-watering. a nice relaxed atmosphere in the two classy, high-spec dining rooms. will return for our next dinner soon

the food at trishna london is colourful, authentic and hearty. as one would expect from coastal indian cuisine, the flavours are bold and the levels of spiciness and heat considerable. trishna's is a flavoursome, robust cuisine in which certain dishes are somewhat more refined, but generally speaking the flavours focus on power rather than subtlety or intricacy.

trishna in marylebone in contrast to famous restaurant trishna in bombay has a much more sedate appearance. situated on blandford street, the atmosphere left something to be desired with a far more low energy vibe than its bustling big sister bombay restaurant.

to start with we ordered the quail pepper fry and the potato chaat. this was the first time i've ever tried quail and i really liked it! the quail was lightly fried with hearty green beans and tomatoes with lots of pepper and curry leaves. the bite size morsels of quail were tender on the inside and deliciously crispy. the chaat was made with mix of chickpeas, onions, spicy green sauce, yogurt and sweet tamarind sauce with crunchy sev sprinkled on top. a very pleasant plate of food which brought back memories of home for me.

we then proceeded to order the grilled marinated lamb chops which were absolutely amazing. the meat was cooked so well - i will be going back to trishna just to solely have these again. the haryali bream was a bit of a let-down though. despite being covered in a bright green chili coriander sauce, it paled in comparison to the tender, flavorful lamb chops. we also had some hyderabadi daal and stir-fried okra with a selection of naan breads - all of which went down very well.

so aside from the fact that i really think they should jazz up their decor a bit, the food is brilliant. make sure you order the lamb chops. one for each person - it's worth it!

so for me trishna is a revelation. it’s a cross between a modern curry house and western cuisine with a focus on seafood and charcoal grilling, both of which i’m a fan of. every dish was cooked extremely well and executed superbly, without being overdone. it may have some criticism for not being authentic enough, but it doesn't have to, it's perfect the way it is.

i knew very little about trishna other than looking over their menu on the way out of its next door neighbour on blandford street, roganic. the description of the dishes looked interesting so it was somewhere that i’d filed as worth checking out sometime. the award of its first michelin star in september 2012 provided a further reminder that it should be a priority to visit. trishna opened in 2008. the focus of the restaurant’s cooking is playing on the coastal cuisine of southwest india.  karam sethi is the chef/patron and his sister sunaina is sommelier and front of house manager. karam trained in india as well as at zuma before the fish course seems to be a signature dish at trishna. the hariyali bream comes with green chilli, coriander, tomato and kachumbar. although it didn’t look that great when it first arrived, the fish was a delight, yielding to the fork, and an excellent way to underpin the dish. the spicing with lingering notes of ginger complemented the fish perfectly. the

we really did feel like our lunch at trishna was a bargain. the individual dishes were full of flavour and ever since going, i’ve really craved to go back again. it wasn’t exactly fine dining indian style like i originally imagined – but it was bloomin’ tasty food. 9/10

indian restaurants with a michelin star are rare in the uk.  the last one i tried was called rasoi in chelsea and that was not good.  not good at all.  it made me question whether indian cuisine and michelin are even a good fit.   complimentary poppadoms the best indian meals i eat are those my mother cooks.  growing up in a humble area of salem in south india she developed a penchant for recipes that have passed down the generations from mother to daughter.  there’s typically a big bowl of masala and fresh dosa mix hitting the pan, one after another, or something along those lines with a batch of idlis.  it’s gloriously good peasant food, presented accordingly.  and that’s the way i like it.   crispy squid i grew up in west yorkshire where there are indian restaurants that top anything i’ve tried in london – down to the particularly strong asian communities in bradford for example.  there are no attempts to sculpt and conform to any perceived criteria and none of them have a star.   c

better in the evening. the place looks a bit unprepossessing and it often looks empty. don't let that put you off because the food is really quite good. they do a food/wine flight – as i believe it's called in the business which is interesting and well thought out.

i think that the food is the best in the area for upmarket indian cooking and worth a try. i've eaten there four times and enjoyed it each time.

the restaurant itself is slightly lacking in atmosphere and a bit clinical but forget that and concentrate on the food. lunchtime is a bit empty and lacking in atmosphere but it livens up a bit in the evening.

standout dish was the lamb chops – perfectly cooked meat, with a hint of tandoori smokiness and well complemented by a cool and crunchy mustard mooli. a touch of ginger added a bit of extra heat. a perfect combination of textures and flavours!

as it is well known, no aubergine can escape my hungry grasp. here was a little beauty of chargrilled katti-meeti aubergine, onion seed and paneer. the katti-meeti (sweet-sour) jubilation came via a lick of tamarind mixed in with the smoked aubergine crush stuffed inside the chargrilled one. i would have defended my rights to have this dish all to myself had there been any discussion otherwise!

trust us, after five courses of trishna’s deliciously spicy fare, you’ll practically feel like you’re sitting under a palm tree on a balmy mumbai beach…
