great may special - alaska halibut. this is my second review of clydes tower oaks. we went there last week and had the may special – alaskan halibut. it was excellent ! the fish was served on a bed of barley & mushrooms and topped with shaved asparagus and a lemon butter sauce. i definitely recommend it. the strawberry shortcake dessert is also the real deal with the cake part being a light homemade biscuit.

sliced white bread instead of baguettes. we go to clyde’s tower oaks about once a month. on our most recent visit i found 2 things disappointing. in the past, when we sit down the server places a pitcher of filtered water on the table and a partial baguette. well, this time there was no baguette. i asked our server for bread and he brought sliced white bread. he indicated that the restaurant has replaced baguettes with white bread because more customers prefer sliced white bread. i sat there in disbelief.

the 2nd problem we had is that we ordered the monthly special which was “wild alaska salmon”. usually, wild alaska salmon is bright orange. it also usually has a name like copper river, sockeye, coho or chinook. well the salmon we were served had no name and was not very orange. what made me more suspicious was that the salmon was served in an orange tomato sauce. i guess that was supposed to visually trick us into thinking that our wild salmon was orange.

when you drive up to the restaurant you get the feeling i'm approaching a wilderness lodge. inside is a well-appointed series of rooms from a western horse ranch to a cool looking bar area. the menu has a display of steaks, chicken and some seafood. nothing on the menu is tracking me as fancy or as a culinary masterpiece. however, the cost is reasonable. the single crab cake was about a quarter pound and i substituted the sides for a veggie and roasted potatoes drenched in oil. the food had very little seasoning and the quality was fair for the price i paid.

monday night at clydes has changed a great deal. back in the day the half price wine and oyster night was an event not to be missed. june 2015, friends and i came from various places around the world to meet up and clydes was our choice for a monday night. we walked in and instant nostalgia from the decor, greetings, and ambiance. but the monday night madness was gone, and that's not a bad thing. we are all 30 years old now, and clydes was the perfect monday night spot. the seafood and steak was amazing. the crack tots were a bit to greasy, but always a fun dish to enjoy. service was brilliant, and i am sure we will all go back to clydes one day many years from now for another meeting of the minds and a meal.

small portions, loud place; won't be going back.. friends, dh and i dined here for brunch. it was our first time here (not our friends).

the place is huge. we sat in the main dining room - nice decor. i didn't care for the place at all. way, way too loud. we had to practically yell to talk to each other. the acoustics were terrible.

food: terrible. i ordered the eggs benedict chesapeake (lump crabmeat); however, it was not lump crab meat, but two crab cakes with mostly filler. the eggs could have used more hollandaise sauce - there was only a thin coating on each poached egg. thank goodness the eggs were property poached. i also had the meat 'plattter' which was served with crackers and bread, mustard, and pickled veggies. the meat - three types and also very small portions. good flavors.

dh ordered one of the specials: fried oysters with potatoes and cole slaw. small portions and the oysters were not plump - definitely not worth the price he paid for them.

huge disappointment in our meal. we won't be going back.

disappointed. i've been going to clyde's for many years, usually for happy hour and their 1/2 priced oysters which i really enjoy. however, i went for dinner a few weeks ago with several girlfriends. the service was really poor, it took at least 20 mins to get our drinks and the server seemed rather disorganized. i ordered the trout parm, which quite frankly looked and tasted like a frozen fried piece of crappy fish. i didn't see any parm at all. i guess i should have known better. while the prices aren't that bad, come on at least cook decent food. as always, the ambiance can't be beat. stick to the appetizers and light fare! this wasn't the first time i was disappointed in the dinner entrees.

my guest and i shared an appetizer of fried calsmari with banana peppers. my dinner was crab soup and my guest's was beef bourguignon which was tasteless and exchanged for steak with ribeye. ok. this is a big busy place. my reservation was 7. i was told it would be 15 minutes later with no apology or effort to smooth over. hostess was busy and not interested in being gracious. started off on wrong foot. forgot to mention parking can be a challenge. wait service is average and not remarkable. food is adequate. again we discovered nothing special here. most entrees are between 10 and 15 dollars. atmosphere is cozy and noisy. overall, dining here was nice but nothing we ate inclined to repeat

i have never had a bad meal, the service is great. the oysters are fresh and have a good selection. i like the way they change the menu up and are not afraid to try new different things from venison to bibimbap.

good food - questionable service. we had a dinner for 12 this evening. our table was ready when we arrived. our waitress though, was not very attentive. drinks went unfilled for quite some time. she asked for appetizer and salad orders first (normally i order my salad when i order my entree). in any case, service was marginal... but it was clear she didn't have it all together.

food was good. i enjoyed the rib eye. tasty but a bit grissly...

the others at my end of the table enjoyed their meals as well (crab cakes, chicken...)

it's worth a try. can't say how wide spread the service issues are.

they pumped over 2 million into decorating this place to look like an authentic hunting cottage/equestrian heaven. great brunch. friendly bar tenders. and... they have dark and srormys!

seems to have a section for old people.. has two bars, a tasty and reasonably priced chicken sandwich and this corridor full of christmas lights. but the place made me realize that there is point at which enough wooden decor makes minorities uncomfortable. valet service available.

the ambviance is the draw to this "theme" restaurant. the food is passably good and the staff friendly. the food arrives from the kitchen quicker than a chinese restaurant though, so be forwarned. also, the good is overpriced. the bar is spacious, friendly, relaxed and fun. actually there are two bars to choose from the back and front. the back is more intimate.
