a beautiful meal and i made sure to eat less than half of my generous serving to ensure a bit of room for dessert. the other half of the business name is after all, "bake shop."

the first time i had stopped by the village tearoom in new paltz, it was rather unplanned. my brother and i were trying to cover some local wineries, we had stopped at clinton vineyards and i wanted to hit adrair . that particular day, the hours did not co-operate, hunger prompted us to the tearoom. i was pleasantly surprised by the food and of course, the nice cup of tea that went with the snacks to boot. it is of course another thing, that this post has been sitting in my drafts for over two months, and i am finally getting round to posting it. i am bad that way, and look for a change i shall not really blame anything else. now, life and food is always about expectations! the next time i went that way was to very specifically get there for a cup of tea (and everyone knows i am a tea buff!). i had also been educated about the reputation of the restaurant. the place as you walk in is like walking into someone’s house. they have a very cozy atmosphere and are surprisingly child friendly

now before you go rolling your eyes about a tea room and bake shop on rambler, rest assured that the purpose of the post is not to tell you about their afternoon teas with finger sandwiches and cookies and scones. (which i'm sure are just great.)

eb had done his research on the town’s top restaurants, and we had selected the village tea room, a longtime local establishment whose online menu seemed to focus on high-quality, seasonal ingredients. we sat outside on the porch (until the mosquitoes dro

an organic breakfast in new paltz. we stopped in for breakfast on the way to a college tour of suny new paltz for our daughter. you can sit outdoors on small deck under umbrellas or indoors in a small dining room. service is prompt and friendly. many teas to choose from. organic entrees are around $15 for modest -- but healthy -- portions. i had the gravlax sandwich (house cured salmon, cucumber, dill cream cheese on organic sourdough rye bread). my wife and daughter shared the potato toussaint tart & tender field green salad (potatoes simmered in cream, herbs & garlic layered with onions & local toussaint cheese), the granola & yoghurt parfait (granola & maple yoghurt layered with bananas) and an amazing blueberry muffin (almost as much blueberry as there is dough). we liked everything we ordered any might have licked the plates -- both because it was all so tasty and also because we needed just a little bit more but, of course, we didn't! with a generous tip the bill for the three of us was $60. not so easy on the pocket but very pleasing on the palate!
