4/18/2015 0 comments i paid a visit to one of charlotte's newest restaurants, the summit room. i strolled my way onto the front porch of the summit room this past friday night. if you haven’t heard of the summit room, then you aren’t as abreast of the latest restaurant openings in charlotte as you think you are. the summit room is in myer’s park on east blvd. anyways, i had heard good things about the joint so i decided to scope it out. i didn’t call ahead because it was kind of late and i figured i’d be able to get a table. i was wrong…it’s my own fault. the summit room took over the space belonging to bruegger’s bagels…meaning, it isn’t that big. there wasn’t a lot of inside seating from my vantage point, but then again, i didn’t venture in to far. i was told i could wait on the porch until something opened up. that’s exactly what i did. i ordered a woodford reserve on the rocks and shot the shit with myself. i’m sure i looked like a madman. anyways, the first table to open was located outside. i don’t normally accept outside seating…but it was late…and i was hungry. i looked over the menu and realized that this place probably wasn’t right for me. i’m not saying it isn’t right for others, but just not for me. there was no caesar salad (my favorite appetizer) or anything that closely resembled what i’d normally order. i decided to go with the nachos…knowing full well these weren’t going to be the nachos i’ve grown accustomed to. i also ordered another bourbon. the nachos arrived and my fears were confirmed. there were seven corn chips sitting elegantly on a plate. i wasn’t sure if there were ten more plates coming or not…i guess i understood that this was going to be it. the chips themselves were covered in avocado, lobster, and cheese dressing. they were actually very good. i just would of like a little more from a plate costing $14. anyways, my bourbon arrived and i ordered the roasted chicken. i highly recommend that if you go to the summit room, you try the
