such a lovely place right at the beautiful scottish national gallery. looked little crowded from the outside but wasn't. the ambiance was too classy for a breakfast place. but well-maintained and gorgeously lit. i loved the deserts.

what can i say?? was happy and looked after the moment we came through the door. warm welcome and stunning service. really a good start with the smiling waiter we couldn't ask for more. food was superb too.

unpretentiousness yet brilliantly presented scottish favorites. haggis parcels and the chocolate cheesecakes were real highlights. very welcoming to young families too. can’t recommended enough....

had dinner there last night. the food was great as was the staff. i had the beef and ale pie. the beef was good as was the puff pastry on which it was served. the staff was extremely nice and the price very reasonable. lots of gluten free alternatives. it was a good and fun meal.

having a single day off when it hasn’t been pouring it down has proved a difficult thing to pull off in 2016. however, wednesday i was off, my husband was home and the sun was shining, so we headed into town to grab some scran. normally, something quick, simple and non-pretentious is our go-to for lunch. however, we’ve not been out in a while, so we opted for something a bit fancier overlooking princes street gardens with the scottish cafe & restaurant underneath the national galleries run by the contini restaurant group.

visited the cafe with my granddaughter and i have to say this was one of the worst cafe experiences i've had. took ages to be served as guy couldn't work out how to enter a carton of juice on the till, latte had to be made twice as the girl spilled it, and the tables were filthy and not cleared. awful

a very busy location, always full of people, but definitely worth waiting in the queue. they always have amazing selection of cakes, which are just delicious and because of the number of customers they are always fresh. the coffee is nice and strong as well. for coffee and cake you will pay around 5 pounds, which is the usual price for the city centre. it is a great place to get your coffee from and you can always pop into the gallery as well.
