ok...that was cheesy, but seriously. i never expected pancakes to taste that good. yea, the service is crappy and the decor could use some updating, but the food makes up for it.

great service and breakfast. i saw a fair amount of negative reviews on urbanspoon and google reviews about this place and was dubious about going. go eat here! the service is awesome!!! lots of locals (good sign) and the food was good!! yes its cash only but they have an atm on site so no worries!

fluffy omelette. arrived around 10:00am saturday and seated right away. ordered the apple pancake junior size. it was plenty big, steaming hot and good. wife had veggie omelette that was very light and fluffy with side of buttermilk pancakes. excellent. waitress was very good and helpful in selection. coffee and water always refilled.

the a/c worked very well. it a pleasure to have a hot breakfast with coffee during summer in az and be comfortable.

food was just okay, not as good as we are used to at our hometown original pancake house. the restaurant really needs updating.

absolutely my favorite breakfast restaurant when i am in scottsdale, az.

recommend the fantastic dutch baby, strawberry waffles, potato pancakes, blueberry pancakes, crepes and great oven-finished veggie omelettes. .. and the list goes on!

don't let the name fool you.
a 1950's retro diner that is part of the original pancake house chain although ron the owner has always taken pride in providing exceptional quality food and unique original consistent recipes for over 25 years. highly recommend.

when i was born, my mother & father owned the original pancake house in kansas city. i literally grew up in the restaurant eating 49ers, dutch babies, french toast, silver dollar pancakes, potato pancakes (my mom's favorite), and several other unique german & dutch breakfast dishes. to this day i am so happy that the franchise is still around and even close to where i live.
this is such a special restaurant because of the dishes you won't find anywhere else besides overseas. it's pricy but it is so worth it.
try the dutch-baby or 49ers if you happen to check this restaurant out. i promise you won't be disappointed. my mouth is salivating just thinking about it!

rude service......3 of us ate here on a sunday about 2 weeks ago (08/30/2015)!)...and the wait staff looked at my friend like he was nuts asking for oatmeal in august!!

when my friend pointed to the waitress it was on the menu but it didn't state they don't make it during the summer months (which are may through september) (who knew?) ...the waitress got snarky and rude about it. the waitress stated very snarky, that it's too hot to make!? silly and you are using a oven to make other breakfast items ....doesn't make sense to me!   it's on the menu but no signs; or any indication what months oatmeal is "not"made!!

when my friend asked the waitress if they could make it;  she got even more rude and snarky....by stating in a cold flat tone.. ...and going into a long drawn out  deal about how the oatmeal is "steel cut oats", & "steel-cut oats can't just be made"!...wow!!

also we had to have a interpreter help our waitress take our order.. she couldn't understand english!!  

next time....we do denny's!!

i can sum the meal up in one word-yum! the pancakes are delicious!!

this is the real mccoy. i'm old vintage. was nine years old when the origina; pancake house opened in portland oregon in 1953 and the family went once a month for pancakes and my favorite, the dutch baby, an oven baked concoction that melts in your mouth. the oph in scottsdale using fresh ingredients carries on the tradition -- my brother and i havecome here over the years and attest to the fact. five stars.

oh my! glorified denny's! only denny's is better. we went there based on urbanspoon' rating. the service was unfriendly and borderline rude. i shall never return. try daily dose - just a few blocks away!

decent food. service needs help.. what's with all the rules and signs? cash only? are we still in the dark ages? and what's up with the decor? with all that money your saving accepting only cash why don't you freshen up the joint?

if you are gonna specialize in one item (pancakes) then you should be able to make the best pancakes ever. not even close. the staff is not that friendly either.

good food. this is a great place to eat. friendly staff, cash only.
my favorite is the chedder bacon grits, even if you are not a fan of grits you will love these.
i have heard people complain about the price, well those people should go to denny's, save a couple bucks and enjoy their substandard breakfast.

the coconut waffle w/tropical syrup was great! sausage patties are obviously from a box & overcooked. overall, food portions are too small considering the price.

the best pancakes i have ever had in az! the pancakes were fluffy and had many choices like chocolate blueberry and many more!*****
