runcorn plaza
i go here with nanxi infrequently. it's in the runcorn plaza shopping centre so parking is ample albeit hazardous.

the cooking is homestyle northern chinese and not really to my taste but is well received by my chinese friends. every person i've shown these photos is immensely interested as well as homesick, the taste is very authentic apparently. they do an extensive range of cold salad items, which i'm not a fan of but are also extremely popular judging from the huge amounts people buy.

i went here for hand pulled lamb noodles, they used a fatty cut of lamb that was smoky, greasy tender tastiness. it was a greasy dish for sure but surprisingly delicious. the noodles were all different sized and had a great chewiness to them. there was a lot of onion and capsicum slices there too but there was equally as much lamb!

nanxi insisted i get the hot and sour beef soup. a slightly medicinal flavour with lots of shredded bits that i couldn't identify. i would say beef, black cloud fungus and other bits. i had a few tablespoons and stopped, mostly as i was very full eating other things for breakfast.

we got a egg and green onion pancake plus a pork bun each. the egg pancake was light and flakey, ive not had something like that for breakfast before so i've got no option on it. the pork buns were very large! a thin layer of dough and a large disc of juicy minced pork with a strong ginger flavour. almost too juicy! beware the splatter!

i got a marinated egg too. no grey ring, solid soy flavour, would get again!

the real high light for me was the freshly made you tiao! we were told there was a 15-20 minute wait cause of how many orders there were at 7am on a saturday morning! the line never got less than 8 people queueing, plus people taking home giant cardboard boxes of them!

they were so good! light, despite their oil frying, airy, chewy and huge to boot! the size of my forearm aka a woman's size 9!!! i slowly picked at my you tiao and took the second half home. my mum found it and she said it was delicious too, high praise!

all in all, go for the you tiao, everything else is average for me but your mileage may vary if you're a homesick chinese person.

sliced beef in chilli sauce as cold dish was a good way to start dinner. 🌶️

sauteed spicy chicken pasta was great price considering big portion size. tasted okay but no wow factor. 🥢

average tasting noodle place but very affordable and will sure to fill you up!

probably my 6th visit here
always busy which is a good sign
today i had the cold noodle chicken and the stir fry flat noddle with beef
i enjoyed both meals
service with the cold dish was quick
and hot dish didn't take too long considering how busy it was
my issue with the place is how unfriendly the counter staff are
maybe it's a cultural thing but always very blunt and not a friendly vibe

the noodle club seems to be a lot more busy than the previous ventures that occupied the corner of runcorn plaza.

this was my third visit to the noodle club in 5 weeks. i've become a repeat customer due to one particular dish. the youpo w/beef ($15.90) is my favourite thing to eat at the moment. unfortunately, it wasn't as good on this occasion. it was too oily and the noodles didn't have the subtle burnt wok flavour that i experienced the times before. none the less i still enjoyed it but it wasn't a 5/5 dish that it would have been if prepared the same way as my last visit.

the other dish i tried was the offal noodle soup. the soup itself was below par. the soup tasted as if it was watered down a fair bit.

the cold peanut side dish is constantly good and i order it every time.

i really do like the texture of the noodles here and i strongly recommend youpo w/beef to everyone.

got told by more than one person that they do the best lamb combination noodle soup in brisbane so decided to pay a visit last night. i wasn't a big fan of noodle cuisine from northern part of china but this dish didn't disappoint me at all. it has a nice aroma of the lamb and a well balanced soup base. the noodle is handmade with a slightly chewy texture which is just to my liking. my husband also enjoyed his handcrafted noodle with slow cooked beef a lot by adding extra chilli sauce and soy sauce. we will definitely come back to try other dishes.

the deco is really refreshing. the wall menu looked really impressive, but the disappointment when the dish comes to the table. the dish doesn't looked like the photo on the menu. the portion is so small and the amount of meat given is a joke. overall, the noodle and soup is nice. it's always lots of people, but i guess the reason is new place to try.

runcorn plaza
a new chinese noodle place replacing gourmet collection. someone can correct me but i think it's either guilin or xi'an style.

a selection of noodles and some rice dishes along with chinese side dishes.

i'm not sure if it's teething opening issues but there was no menu / board at the front showing what food is offered. once you walked in, noone showed us so we had to walk all the way to the front to see the menu on the screens. it is a pet peeve of mine when you walk into a restaurant and are unsure of where to sit / order. there weren't paper menus to look at.

this lack of customer interaction translated to a kind of isolated feeling. the owner was sitting in the corner working. other friends of staff walked in and got free food. just not a great feeling though i acknowledge customer service is generally not that great at many asian places.

the food itself is alright and not bad.
