a very fine place on saturday morning. we arrived 7:30ish just beating the crowd and having the pick of tables both in and out. the patio in back provides nice seclusion. coffee quite good. our table had the american breakfast which sports impressive and generous bacon. i needed a change: pleased with the breslin. your fellow diners are the genteel cherokee east crowd; a quiet demure bunch. recommended.

stellar. the food quality is great. the owners are friendly and creative people. the menu varies just enough to keep it interesting and try new things but the classics remain. the worst thing i can say is the place gets pretty packed on weekend mornings... not there fault.

pricey and their tipping process sucks.... everything was good but the prices are too high..., but what really upset me was that you order at the counter and you take it to your table or they bring it to you. when you pay, their payment "screen" comes up with pre-determined percentages of 15%, 20% or 25% for the tip! what the hell?! am i supposed to tip them upon how good they take my order at the counter???? when i did sit down, they brought my food out and that was it. no attempts to fill my water, or bring me more hot water for my tea, or how the food was. more and more services involving tipping are using the "square" credit card process which operates like this but you usually have to maneuver it's "landmines" at the end of your customer experience. this is the worst and most manipulative use of this growing trend. this manipulation and the high prices badly taints an otherwise tasty experience...

we really enjoyed the food and the coffee was fantastic... will definitely return. the ambiance was great and it's located on cherokee street, which is home to the historic, antique row.   the only thing that i found interesting is that the syrup served with the french toast, wasn't pure maple syrup. i mentioned this because usually when a restaurant serves food of similar quality, rarely would you be served a quality of syrup similar to what you would get at ihop...  i prefer not to pour corn syrup based maple flavored syrup on my food.

my perfect sunday started with 75 degree weather and looking up this establishment on zomato. yes, it's busy, but they make up for it in quality. yum! since i'm not a local, i was happy to discover it was located in the cherokee historic district where tons of antique shops were located.

such a great atmosphere this place has. my mood was lifted up the moment i stepped in. great food and even greater coffee bar. it was time for lunch but i couldn't pass their breakfast menu so i went ahead and ordered the american breakfast. everything was reeeally tasty, especially the bacon! brian ordered the biscuits and gravy and i think he inhaled the whole thing :-) we left happy, well done, really!

great atmosphere and really good food and coffee. we went on a saturday around 12:00 and it was very busy, but still got a table. a bit pricey for lunch or breakfast, but you're paying for the experience!

excellent food, good atmosphere, new menu. brunch is served! ample selection of breakfast items to suit your breakfast needs, but don't go expecting pancakes or waffles...although they do have french toast! definitely going to revisit this place!

the place is cool looking for sure! they have a great coffee bar! i ordered a arkansas cappuccino it was really amazing. my wife orders their hot chocolate and her issue it missed just 1 thing chocolate! now to our breakfast, t
we both ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs on top. when it arrived you can just see the gravy looked separated and not appetizing at all. the taste was worse all i could taste was olive oil! way to strong in my book. it might have been a bad day in the kitchen but damn wish it didn't need to happen when we where there.

i will not be back. this is the first negative review i have ever written. i like the idea of the mud house: up and coming area of town, coffee, great atmosphere, shops nearby... it all sounds great. the atmosphere, however, is just not great. there are a lot of very bad attitudes floating around behind the counter. i have dined there twice just to make sure that i didn't have a weird out-of-the-ordinary experience the first time. when i walked up to the counter to inquire about the hash of the day the man taking my order pointed me to a small hand written sign to read rather that simply just telling me what the hash was. it felt like he was extremely inconvenienced by my question. i ordered the hash and proceeded to get a seat however there were not any seats available (and i'm ok with waiting but you definitely need to plan to wait in a small corner). i finally got a seat! my hash arrived not too long after i was seated. my eggs were very runny. i personally just don't eat or like runny eggs so i requested they cook them. the man i asked was so offended by my asking to cook my eggs (the way i originally ordered them). he hesitated to give me a plate to put the runny eggs on. i waited for new eggs for at least 15 minutes and then just decided to leave. it just was not worth waiting and being treated poorly over their mistake. it was not a big deal at all, except the way they treated me about their mistake. i am a big fan of customer service and they lack it- big time!

this morning, my husband and i went in search of a new weekend brunch spot and happened to come across the mud house located on cherokee street. i had not yet been to this part of town that is known for its antique shops, art galleries, and cafes. i have been hearing a lot of talk about st. louis’s up and coming coffee scene and this was one of the names that has been mentioned. however, i had no idea about their creative breakfast and lunch menu that are both served throughout the day. rosemary latte we arrived around 11a.m. and since it was getting crowded, i stood in line to order at the counter while my husband found a table. little did he know, he was about to be the recipient of a lavender mocha that was recommended by the barista. while i was a little nervous about choosing this for him, we were both pleasantly surprised. in fact it was so delicious, he uncharacteristically ordered a second drink for the road. i took a chance by ordering a rosemary latte which was also unexpecte

good food. i had the panzanella salad and it was very good. i don't like the tipping policy, it just seems a little presumptuous.
