the meat house neighborhood butcher & grocer

dec 08 2014   located in the heart of winter park, the meat house , is quietly serving up some of the best beef, poultry and seafood in town. founded in 2003 in portsmouth, new hampshire, the original founders set out to revive the art of the neighborhood butcher. while the meat house was founded miles away from florida, winter park’s business partners and employees are truly local. the butcher shop features products from local vendors, sources chops and produce from local farmers, regional ranchers and more. over thanksgiving we purchased the most delicate, flavorful beef tenderloin. after topping with 4rivers seasoning and placing in the smoker for hours on end, we were treated to beef so juicy and loaded with flavor, you could slice the meat with merely a fork. grocery store meats just can’t compare. as a bonus the leftovers were even tastier the next day. these winter park cuts are the best in town and truly make gathering around the table easier. the friendly staff and premium meats are a guarantee and the prices are pretty reasonable as well. whether it’s a party or home-cooked meal you’re after, trek over to the meat house for a fail proof meal and delectable ingredients.       photo credits: raw meat images owned by the meat house, all others taken by spork.   posted by spork orlando   uncategorized   add comments   leave a reply cancel reply

dont waste your money. terrible. the meats here i had to return twice. the first time they were smelly, tenderloin of beef filet, and were very dry when grilled,med.rare.,the second were there " claim to fame", cowboy steaks, which were so fatty."awful."i gave them another chance and tried there "kalbi" beef tips which were so salty, almost inedible.
sorry folks at the meathouse,you missed the boat. i'm a chef from n.y.,worked in miami, and moved here recently, i'm very disappointed in this place.
much better off at wholefoods.not to add coals to the fire but the customer service has been terrible, on all visits.very,very,very limited staffing.

amazing. i have shopped at the meat house many times over the past year and a half. the customer service is top notch and their meat amazing.
just last night i wanted some real food and stopped on my way home from work. i purchased a stuffed pork with feta and spinach, a cranberry horseradish sauce, the twice baked potates, a caprese salad and a fresh bagette.
all i had to do when i got home was heat it up and i honestly felt like i was eating food from a four star restaurant.
yes, they can be a little pricey, but you get what you pay for!!!

meats are high quality but.... ...what they don't have is good customer service. the female cashier had a nasty and repulsive attitute. did not acknoledge us as we were coming into the store or even when paying for our groceries. she gladly opened the door for all the other customers and even greeted them but she totally and purposedly ignored my husband and i. all they had to do was say "well be with you as soon as we can" or even just a "hello" or some eye contact would have been nice. i guess they're so busy they don't need new customers!

order wrong two christmases in a row. i ordered a 3lb tenderloin roast and 1lb bacon for christmas dinner. i picked up the meat on 12/24. when i went to put my recipe together on christmas morning (one that involves both a tenderloin and bacon) i realized the bacon was not given to me when i picked up the meat.

this prompted me to have to run out on christmas day to try to find a store that was open and had bacon. after going to 4 different stores and being away from my family for over an hour and a half on christmas i finally found it.

this is the second year in a row that my order has not been right. last year i ordered a beef roast for christmas and asked for it to be tied a specific way and when i received it i found it was not tied at all. ordering from a specialty shop such as the meat house means you pay extra, which i have no problem with, but when they cant get an order right two years in a row it raises huge red flags. i could have spent half of the cost i did and could have ordered my meat from publix or petty's and chances are one of the two would have done it correctly.

i am very sorry to say that they have lost my business because of this.

amazing!. i just visited the meat house for the first time and i must say that i am very very impressed. i ordered the cheese-steak sandwich and it was one of the best things i have ever had. the store is top notch. it's like whole foods but more amazing and less hassle. i will now be visiting the meat house on a weekly basis.

you’re not going to find everything you need at the meat house but, it’s a great place to head to for an incredible sub or impressive gourmet goodies to show off at your next party. aside from the grade a fresh cuts of every kind of meat you could ever want, the meat house offers beautiful local veggies, a lofty collection of beers and wines, assorted dips, spreads, spices, and a glorious olive bar that also includes in-house grape leaves, and fava beans swimming in olive oil

i rolled into winter park, florida, hungry.  i had made the trip down from tallahassee fueled by only a bag of mini-wheats and a cup of black coffee. 

the meat house humbly calls themselves your neighborhood butcher & grocer. after sampling their smoked in-house sausage, i beg to differ.

you have to try a steak and cheese sandwich. it is made with real steak tips is hot and so yummy! we ate outside because the weather was so nice.

great dry aged meat and home made sausages. i was driving thou that area of town looking for few good restaurants and stubbled accross this place. being a avid smoker of meat and maker of my own bacons, sausages, custom meats. i had to stop into this place to take a look. i walked in and the butcher was very helpful and really knew his stuff. now they do carry 4-5 cuts of steak all dry aged for a minimum 2 weeks. they looked awesome and i will have some to take home with me to jacksonville. we can't (or i can't) find anyone that does it at home. now the other cuts of meat look awesome to really deep red in color. after talking to the guys there this is a place i would frequent. enjoy orlandoian.

dry aged!!. finally! dry aged beef without schlepping all the way down to sand lake road. helpful service. it would be nice if they continue to expand their offerings to provide a more rounded gourmet experience.
