where do i begin? all cards on the table, i’m not a vegan! before becoming aware of the happy pear, eating less meat and animal products was something that would have never crossed my mind! i always felt when being told how to eat and or live through an aggressive approach this is what makes me want to rebel! dave and steve (owners, creators, marketing masters) have the most inoffensive way of promoting the benefits of eating in line with a vegan diet!

look at that buddha bowl and tell me it needs meat! i bloody dare you!

so this restaurant not only serves fabulous vegan delights but makes you conscious of their preferred health choices.. and who can’t benefit from being more aware of what’s going into your body? coconut and squash soup is heavenly, the shepherdless pie is as delicious as it is hilariously named and, well, look at the buddha bowl!

ps. you’re a fool if you don’t pick up a tub of their “healthy” nutella! and if you figure out how to sit and not eat the tub in one go, can you let me know? ... asking for a friend! 😉

it serves vegetarian delights to its customers

it is located at the top end of the road and i'm sure you'll see it by the crowd i am informed is always there.
the choice is very good and the portions quite large. we settled for one of their many salads something we both enjoy. the quantity on the plate was quite surprising and at only 1.25 euro it was excellent value and quality.

check what is included with your meal to get best value. if you have the soup it is served in a very large full bowl with a choice of home made breads.

for those with a sweet tooth there is a good choice of cakes though a little expensive.

there is a full range of hot and cold drinks on offer at reasonable prices.

the shop next door is part of the location and sells a myriad of healthy items.

there is plenty of seating both inside and out front and back.

there is no waiter service you pay as you enter then find a seat.

i would return and highly recommend it.

i have eaten here a few times and i have always been really impressed at how friendly the staff are, and how helpful at explaining what's on offer. lots of unusual food, with exciting fresh flavours.

on my last visit i had a roast mediterranean veg lasagne with pesto on top and hummus on the side. my friend got the sweet potato and quinoa burger with sundried tomato pesto and roast red onions on top. both delicious and big hearty portions!
had a salted carmel slice and my friend had the carrot cake for dessert. the carrot cake was light and tasty but a tad bland. washed down with great coffee.
the little shop attached is great too, nice to be able to pick up ingredients used in meals you have just eaten. cant wait to come back again.

had a lovely lunch today in the happy pear in greystones. my favourite thing about the happy pear is that you never feel sickly full after it or bloated. just have a really nice boost of energy. staff are great and so friendly, i got the sri lankan curry with carrot salad. so tasty, even brought some home to have for later. only regret was not trying their deserts, will have to try one of their treats the next time!

i love coming to visit the happy pear. the dart journey from dublin city centre to greystones is worth it alone, riding along the coastline - on a sunny day it's spectacular! or jump off at bray and there is a cliff side walk from bray-greystones that will certainly work up on appetite.

in the veg store there is a selection of seasonal fruits, veg, herbs, sprouts, take-away dishes, health food products, organic teas, their own granolas and treats, their cookbooks and more! whilst in the café you can choose between hot and cold salads, mains, soups - all veggie of course and always a vegan option. i'm never let down by what's on offer from curries to burgers - they are all delicious. you can also get coffees, teas and hot chocolate. selection of milks include rice and oat which are nicer alternative to typical soy or almond and my favourite sweet treat is their salted caramel slice.

they now open some evenings but it's been quite some time since i visited at this time & i believe it's no longer table service but this will need to be verified. seating is available upstairs but if the weather is good, definitely sit outside and soak it up. oh and by the way the beach is just down the road!

my favourite place on earth 😍 i've been going to the happy pear for years and the place has only gotten bigger and bigger. the vegetarian cafe serves 2 mains, soups, pittas and gorgeous fresh salads which change daily. i have never had a bad dish here. always packed, the queue is often out the door with people coming from far and wide but it moves quickly and you always get a table. their coffee and healthier baked goods are also top notch!

about a year ago they opened the evening restaurant on fridays and saturdays. it lives up to the cafes wonderful reputation. at this stage i've tasted everything on the menu! the taster board is a great starter. the happy pear are famous for all their dips and hummus. i usually go for the quinoa black bean burger with a side of either the four grain or the green energiser salad and the grilled veg. love the paella too. all flawless. the lasagne is famously good also. in terms of desert the salted caramel tart is a must try! got it with a scoop of their homemade coconut ice cream which was yum. my mum got the carrot carrot cake which was good too.

david and steven are two absolute gents. always in good form and bring such food energy to the place! they seem to employ like minded people because all the staff are absolutely fantastic.

meat lovers and vegetarians alike must make a trip to the happy pear!!

finally got myself down to greystones to eventually try my tongue at the most hyped up health food cafe! i was beyond excited and it certainly lived up to my expectations! myself and my friend both got a soup and salad which included two salads of generous helpings. the soup was lovely and at a perfect temperature, which can sometimes be an issue when serving soups! the salads were absolutely to die for, as i went for the beetroot (i'm a lover of beetroot) and then took a chance at a rice salad with carrot which i would definitely approve! the soup at salad came to €7.00 as we sat down, rather than take-out which was €6.00/€6.50 i can't remember exactly. really reasonable for the quality and the quantity of food! i always feel so willing to pay that little bit extra when you feel like you're doing your body good! couldn't leave without trying their coffee so grabbed a good flat white which was second to none! atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and staff were superb and very helpful! i'll be sure to go back! 🍐

i cannot recommend the happy pear enough. the place is really busy in the weekends so expect to quee outside for food but well worth it. the flynn brothers usually have a chopping board of delicious treats to sample while you wait. vegetarian food has never tasted so good. lots of vegan options too. i had a coconut and butternut squash soup to start and then a salad and cheesy butterbean bake. i couldn't leave without getting a raw salted caramel slice for the road home. staff are so friendly and such a happy atmosphere. would recommend everyone to take a trip down, meat lovers and all. three courses came to €17 so very reasonably priced too

i wish i could give this place 6/5. the happy pear is my favourite restaurant really relaxed atmosphere, great food (all vegetarian) and an ideal spot if you walk the bray to greystones cliff walk for a good feed after. the highlights for me are the bean burger from the evening menu and usually their hot lunches are incredible (get the hummus on the side too!) the cheesecake is my favourite dessert ( all the desserts are vegan and gluten free). the famous twins and owners are usually there on the weekends to giving out free samples and there can be a queue of people at the weekend but it moves quickly! although i am a biased vegetarian i can't recommend this place enough and am hoping to try the breakfast their soon!

for those who know me, it's not a surprise to hear that i'm a huge fan of the happy pear.

myself and the lovely zephra called in for lunch last sunday during an afternoon adventuring around bray. it was a beautiful, sunny, spring day so crowds were out in their masses and we actually had to queue to get in. the queue didn't take too long thankfully....about 10 mins tops!

the two of us opted for the daily specials. i went for the indian lentil & coconut dhal topped with flaked almonds & chutney and zeph went for the feta, beetroot & walnut burger. both were served with delicious (and very generous portions) of salad.

i can't speak for zeph's dish, but mine was top notch. it was packed with freshness and flavour and was exactly what i was craving for the last few weeks. added bonus is that it was all so healthy.

already planning my next visit.

i am obsessed with the happy pear on insta and have been talking about coming here for ever and a year. so himself decided to take me here to celebrate my promotion at work.

we kicked off with elderberry procesco which went so well with our sharing platter of humouses / guac / chutneys and flatbreads. nomnomnom.

i had the pad thai for mains which took me straight back to the streets of bangkok. he had the grilled haloumi and roasted veg which were again gorgeous.

dessert was a toss up between banoffee and the fudge choc tart. unfortunately we went with the latter which was quite dense and dry. oh well. until next time!

i had heard a lot of good things about the happy pear so was interested to see what the fuss was about! we did the bray to greystones walk so it was perfect for lunch. the place is quite small and has two parts, the cafe and the shop. the staff were very friendly.

the menu changes daily and the ingredients are all fresh! i went for a sweet potato, aubergine and parmesan bake and a salted caramel slice. my main was lovely and i was pleasantly surprised with it! i didn't enjoy my salted caramel slice as much, it was nice but i didn't really get the caramel taste in it.

overall, i enjoyed my lunch here even if it isn't my usual type of food!
