absolutely amazing!!. first time writing; finally felt compelled to write a review worth telling people about. to start the duck fat fries with the duck egg was pretty much the best thing i've ever had. for the main course i had the kobe beef. melt in your mouth juicy flavorful deliciousness. my date had the chicken roulade and thought it was the best chicken she had ever had. bottom line best food we have ever had. so amazing, decently priced, great service, 5 star in my book.

best restaurant. we went to grey plume last week. everyone at the table agreed it was one of the best meals we have ever had. the flavors and interesting combinations were spectacular. i would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in omaha. kudos to the chef and owner.

to quote my date: "best meal i've had since i can remember."
to quote the pretentious woman next to us: "please give the chef a big, fat, sloppy, wet kiss from me and tell him not to change anything ever."

the meal was delicious and the wait staff was wonderful. 10/10 would recommend.

just an amazing restaurant all over if you really love food. i feel welcome ever time i've been and the device is amazing. you can tell they really enjoy working there. so much care and time goes into preparing the food it's as if they respect their ingredients as much as the do their customers.

a friend and i went to the grey plume for happy hour and thus sat at the bar. it is an absolutely beautiful space with tasteful decor. i think the happy hour specials here are one of the best kept secrets in omaha! the food was delicious as well as the cocktails. however, the reason we didn't give our visit a perfect 5 was the service was not stellar. the bartender checked in on us, but we seemed like an afterthought at times. it was by no means horrible, but they set the bar high with the amazing food and we wished the service would have matched.

hands down the best restaurant in omaha. chef clayton has designed masterful dishes served at a very reasonable price on plates that are actual works of art. very modern wine menu and never disappointing craft cocktails. gourmet at its finest. the restaurant itself is among the greenest in the nation and the staff pays attention down to the finest detail, you should probably always make a reservation as they fill up quick!

waited at bar - without recognition. food my be good - but a disappointing experience. they tried to offer us a cookie and free drink on our way out but we were too angry to accept. will try again on a week day.

a world-class restaurant. the grey plume is an amazing restaurant. chef clayton chapman is a food wizard and visionary! and he's a modest, gentle spirit. my wife and i have returned well over a dozen times (so far) we go there when we want to be treated to food that is over-the-top great, service that is impeccable, and an overall experience that is memorable. the diver scallops are the best we've ever eaten. i don't consider myself a "soup person," but i will absolutely order any soup on the menu as it never fails to blow my mind. my wife and i like to sit in the bar and order from the bar menu when we want to save a couple dollars but still want an unforgettable meal. i have told many people that my choice of a last meal would be simple: grey plume duck fat fries (with the optional fried egg on top), whatever soup they are making, and a glass or two of their fine red wine. now that they've opened grey plume provisions, we also like to shop there and come up with our own creations. (chef clayton teaches great classes, too.). i highly recommend their baguettes, placed in a super-hot oven for 5-10 minutes and served piping hot with fresh, unsalted butter (you can purchase their hand-churned butter at provisions, too!)

we had dinner at the grey plume last night. the food was absolutely delicious, fresh ingredients and outstanding presentation. the service was good but wasn't great!! however, the hostess was very charming and professional. the ambience was nice, however a tad too dark and the fabric on the wall seating unit isn't great- a silky fabric would be better than the abrasive velvet fabric.
overall- a+

always a treat!. this is our special occasion place. most recently for our anniversary. we were presented with a wonderful acknowledgement from the staff waiting at our table upon arrival. throughout the evening we experienced attentive service from our wait staff and spot on recommendations from the sommelier. chef clayton chapman is a mad genius when it comes to the creativity he expends in preparing his dishes. it is both an amazing artistic and gastronomic experience!

best in town?. i went to this restaurant on 7/23/14 based on a friends recommendation, and it was disappointing. there was a group of 8 of us and the service was horrible. my wife wanted a vodka cranberry, but they don't have cranberry, so they brought out something that tasted like vodka lemonade. i wanted to order a regular beer, like a bud, bud light, coors, etc. before we ordered wine. sorry they don't carry anything like that, just micro beers (and no, they don't have boulevard, or lucky bucket, check it, you won't know any of them) it took about 15-20 minutes for them to bring the drinks. the restaurant was about 50% full. our waiter said they were short handed, because someone quit. we then prepared to order wine, but they don't have any known california cabs (we usually drink silver oak, stag's leap, inglenook, cakebread, seghesio, dunn, etc.) but no again, no ordinary wines, so we just settled on cocktails. the apps were good, not great, and so was the meal, but the service itself took over two and half hours, so it seemed like we were there for an eternity. there was a weird noise coming out of the air conditioner even time it cycled on as well. i would recommend many other nice restaurants, as i go out to eat 2-3 days a week, but i wouldn't recommend this place.

fabulous. this restaurant exceeded the very high expectations i had after reading an article that named it the best restaurant in nebraska. the service was exemplary. everyone we interacted with was not only professional, courteous, and friendly they were very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. you can tell this is a restaurant that takes great pride in their food and how it is sourced and prepared. we sat next to a map on the wall that showed the names and locations of the local farms they buy their ingredients from – very cool. the restaurant itself has a very pleasant atmosphere.

the highlight at the grey plume however is the food. my boyfriend and i started with an order of the duck fat fries. they were so decadent and delicious – with aioli and a fried egg on top. for my entrée i ordered the pork. i have to confess that up until recently i almost never ordered pork in a restaurant because it nearly always came out dry. however, i’ve had some really good experiences with it recently in restaurants in des moines so i decided to give it a try. i am so glad i did. definitely one of the best dishes i’ve had in any restaurant, anywhere. there were expertly cooked slices of pork loin, pork belly, and pork sausage accompanied by diced zucchini, roasted zucchini, onion puree, and thinly sliced yellow beets. the combination of flavors was just incredible.

the prices were very reasonable for a fine dining restaurant and the atmosphere was very nice too. i highly recommend this restaurant. we would definitely return next time we’re in omaha.

nice ambience and service - very knowledgable. appreciate that the food is fresh and much of it local. preparation is nice and wine selection is solid. portions are small, which would be acceptable if the food was "to die for" but my meal fell flat for me. if a couple drops $150 on a meal, i'm expecting to talk about it for weeks. this was just slightly better than okay.

best foie gras in omaha. i have a very selfish reason for writing this review. i have read many of the comments/reviews posted here---and not one has mentioned my greatest "like" about tgp. foie gras. yes, i know, foie gras is not at the top of everyone's list of favorite foods.....but is it at the top of mine. i've been in love with foie since i first experienced it in the montmartre area of paris over 20 years ago. i've been fortunate enough to enjoy it at many restaurants in cities across the us and in france. clayton chapman's pan seared foie is perhaps the very best i have had......anywhere. yes, i said anywhere! my wife and i recently returned from a week-long stay in paris where i had foie at three separate meals. claytons is beats what i had there----hands down! the sauce clayton uses with his foie changes from time to time......i do not believe that i have had the exact same preparation twice. this keeps the dish fresh and interesting. what is exactly the same each time i have it is my reaction...very close to ecstasy!

now, my dr. and my wife both tell me that "man can not live by foie gras alone"-----and i can accept that. over the past year or so i've had a number of entree's at tgp.....and have never, never been disappointed. the happy hour bar menu may be the best bargain in town. the dining room is subtly refined/classy without being pretentious.

my recommendation---make a reservation, order the foie gras appetizer, and follow it with ----whatever! you will not be disappointed!
