fab-u-lus. i would like to leave it at that, but can't. there's was nothing we had that wasn't good. the menu changes everyday, so looking at my pictures may not be helpful, but if it's fresh, it's probably going to be good. much like most reviews, service didn't start out that good, but got a little better as we went (which doesn't make sense because they only got busier). the truffle mac n cheese was a little disappointing considering what they charged for a side order, i've had better. for our last night in pcola.........winner, winner, not just another chicken dinner!!!!!!!

good raw oysters and fair baked. service was horrible. really upscale restaurant but put appetizers on the table without utensils, napkins or plates? my tuna ordered seared rare blackened....toasted to well done. they brought me gumbo until my food was returned. they served mashed potatoes with the tuna....eewww. you can sub them out for fresh vegetables for an $5.00 upcharge. great atmosphere! i recommend beer/drinks and oysters. good gumbo for sure. tuna wasn't that good being they sink it in mashed potatoes. keep it simple and you may be ok.

lovely sunday brunch. enjoyed a sunday brunch with a party of 8 friends on the deck overlooking the bay. service was prompt and friendly and the food was fantastic.
i already had several favorites places in pensacola, and now i have another, i will definitely be going back to the grand marlin.
there were several $2 drink specials on the brunch menu, including a fantastic bloody mary made from a house recipe hot sauce that is also served/sold by the bottle at the restaurant. i had the crab cake benedict and it was superb. it had 2 small cakes, loaded with crab meat, with a poached egg and "jalapeno hollandaise" on top, served with some spicy, roasted red potatoes. my wife had the shrimp and grits which had jumbo grilled shrimp and spicy red sauce with peppers and onions over the grits.
portions were just right for brunch, prices in the 8 to 14 dollar range.
gratuity was not added to our checks despite the large party size - so we took extra special care of our wonderful waiter. can't wait to go back.

the grand (marlin). this place was amazing! i took my father out to dinner here for his birthday and don't regret it one bit. we had the january half & half special (1/2 doz. raw oysters and 1/2 doz. peel and eat shrimp) and the seafood gumbo as appetizers. both were delicious! for our entrees my dad had the red snapper and i had the mahi-mahi anegada. superb! we could tell the quality and freshness of fish by the taste, look, and texture of it. i love the fact that menu changes daily so there's always something new! the view is beautiful and i love the attention to detail. our server was summer and she was so friendly and actually talked to us which was a nice suprise (most servers i feel are not so personable... i understand when there busy they can't). go to the grand marlin and ask for summer =)

outstanding food served in great atmosphere by neglectful waitstaff. a black mark in an otherwise perfect evening was our friendly and knowledgeable waiter's tendency to completely disappear from sight for 15-20 minutes at a time. considering that we had a view of the entire restaurant and we couldn't see him anywhere serving anyone. particularly annoying since other waitstaff brought all the food to the tables. so aside from that the food was exceptional. we started with lobster fingers. a whole small lobster tail split into 3 long strips lightly battered and fried served with a lovely honey mustard sauce. a bit pricey at $13.95 but very tasty. for dinner i had sea scallops grilled to perfection served with a light pesto over a bed of julienned veggies. my husband chose the love and rubbed salmon which had an outstanding seasoned rub also grilled to perfection. this was serves with diced herbed sweet potatoes with bacon. yummy yummy all around. portions were good size. not so skimpy that you were left wanting and not so huge that you were bloated stuffed. so we saved room for dessert. we chose a banana brûlée concoction that was outstanding. fresh bananas with a crusty crunchy brûlée served in a creamy dreamy custard. we left as members of the clean plate club and if we ever visit pensacola again we'll be sure to return.

as usual great food, lousy service. i don't know why such great chefs, who've spent so much making this incredible restaurant continue to put up with terrible servers and bartenders? the food is extraordinary, however, the service makes you not want to go back.

hot food, not so hot service. when i went to this establishment i was imprested with the overall experince untill we were seated. it took the server 15 minutes to come get our drink order then another 20 to get our order. that was the only bad part. two thumbs up to the kitchen. the food came out fast and fresh. the presentation well fitted the dishes and every thing i tried was great. i will be back soon

just opened. great experience.. heard this place was opening up, had some family visiting, sounded like a great place to try out. it was a bit obvious they were still shaking down the staff, but that is to be expected having just opened.

the food was amazing. i am usually not to picky about presentation and all that, but when my food came out i was a bit surprised at how good my plate looked. being a native, you don't normally see that kind of quality and effort put into plating presentation. a nice touch.

the gumbo was great as a side. had some mahi, very good, with delicious greens and potatoes. new menu daily, so that will probably keep me coming back on special occasions. oh, and great view. we sat inside and watched the sunset, but the outdoor covered bar seemed nice too. i imagine that will be a great hangout once it warms up a bit.
