like it!. this is a very well run, established restaurant. great staff, great prices, great food, great location. i try to make it a place to visit whenever i make it downtown. best coffee (lavazza) in town too! i think its the only place in knoxville that serves french beer too!

fantastic!. i was back in town again last week. crepes are as good if not better than the last time i ate here. love the new goat cheese and walnuts!

the best little restaurant in town!. i love the french market. it reminds me of my trip to paris last year. the crepes are incredible and so authentic, it blows my mind how they do it for so cheap. i love the owners, they are extemely friendly and helpful. now open nights thursday, friday and saturday for before or after after the movies. everyone should make an effort to try a crepe at the french market!. i am amazed at how lucky we are in knoxville, tennessee to have an crepe shop. i mean, what other city has one within a days airline flight from here?

great service, ambience, and the best crepes ever!. if you would like to experience a delicious and special treat next time you're in knoxville, tn don't miss the homemade, tasty crepes at the french market. have your crepe or dessert crepe virtually any healthy way you'd like it, and in most cases choose between their traditional or buckwheat versions. our party of 7 tasted the goat cheese and walnut, monte cristo, roast beef au jus, and the turkey, spinach, artichoke and cheese lunch crepes. if you enjoy the monte cristo sandwich, you've got to try the crepe version. generous portions and prepared to perfection. for dessert with specially ground coffees we had the strawberries and cream, bavarian creme, and nutella crepes. everything was freah and the staff friendly and helpful. they accommodated our large party on a busy saturday afternoon -- even with one of our party being in a wheelchair. dine inside or on the sidewalk cafe overlooking s gay street in gorgeous and vibrant knoxville! bon apetit!

travelled through knoxville while visiting friends and family for the holidays. i was quite put off by the unfriendly staff there. fortunately the food was okay. but i doubt i would go back again because the staff was so rude.

just lovely *sigh*. this has to be my favorite spot in knoxville. the decor is wonderful, the people are fast and friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. i love to get a crepe and a latte and sit outside by the railing. if i squint i can almost pretend that i'm sitting in a cafe in paris. do yourself a favor and go as soon as possible to the french market. knoxville is so lucky to have this restaurant.

definitely worth your time. whether you're a knoxville native or visiting from out of town, this is a place you have to stop in and get a bite at. i believe their hours are something like from 10-2--not very late, seeing as they're only open for breakfast and lunch or "brunch".
i think that they are very affordable, but i've heard some people deam them as "expensive". again, i have to stress--do you want crap or do you want quality ingredients people of the public?!
it is a very small place, but they are currently in the process of expanding because the old farragut building is being converted to downtown lofts just above this magnificent little eatery. i also like the way they give you a number on a card to mark the table you're sitting at--it always has something french on it.
i got the goat cheese and walnut crepe and it is wonderful, a little slice of heaven during an otherwise stressful, work-crammed week. the portions are big too, so it's plenty to eat.
definitely go here and see for yourself!

meh. i had heard mixed reviews about this place, so while i happened to be downtown one day with my 6 year old, we stopped in. i got a savory crepe for myself and a nutella crepe for him. they were a little busy, and there was only one man cooking and taking orders. my first impression was that i was being a bother by placing an order, wasn't a super busy fellow, but they were busy so i let it slide. it didn't take too long for the food to get done and it was pretty delicious. mine was very large and filling, and i couldnt help but take a few bites of my sons. it was an okay experience, but i doubt i'd make it a regular, mostly because i enjoy a warmer experience, having a friendly server wait my table, with real china and silverware (they use paper and plastic here).

fabulous!. the french market is downtown's new hot spot. thanks to allan and susan, your friendly proprietors, going to the french market is like going to an old friends house for brunch. not only are the crepes are consistently delicious, the espressos are real (they only grind true lavazza italian beans), and the place decked with cool little european trinkets, but you will always be invited with a warm smile and a chance to try something new. i love the place.

we wanted to go downtown and eat at the one in knoxville, but a lot of events going on, so lots of traffic. we opted and went to their other location. very nice and cozy feel, staff were very friendly. our crepes and croissant sandwiches were delicious. i'm a huge crepe fan of all flavors and kinds. would definitely come back if ever in tennessee again. really need a place like this in east texas.

better here than in france. i'm french and i lived a year in knoxville as an au pair. i went almost every saturdays at the french market before the ut games. i had to go back in france in march, and the first thing i did was to find a restaurant with crepes in the menu. well that wasn't a good idea. the crepes were good but not awesome like in the french market. my friend and i had to buy pastries because we were still hungry!

the french market is definitely my favorite french restaurant. too bad it's not in france !!

my wife and i have been long time lovers of the french market creperie since they first opened on gay street, and now that they have moved to clinch street. i would give them a consistent 5 stars over the course of that time, but we had a very disappointing one star experience this morning. we don’t know if our experience was the result of a changed or misguided policy that we have never seen enforced before, or one rude employee, but it has us questioning whether we will ever go back. today, as is often the case, the restaurant was doing a brisk business. you order by standing in line. there was a line to the door, but there were numerous open tables. as is normally the case, my wife (we are both over 65) gave me her order and then found a table to sit at and hold while i stayed in line to order. a young male employee who we have never seen before confronted her after she sat at the table and told her she could not sit at the open table because she hadn’t ordered yet. she told him that i was in line to order, and he repeated that she couldn’t sit at the table - his attitude was abrupt and condescending. and having done the same thing for years at this restaurant and never seeing this happen before, his actions caused us to choose to take our business elsewhere.

the french market is a beautiful place in downtown knoxville to have a sweet or savory crepe. the atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing, the staff are friendly, and the food is flavorful. the menu has plenty of exciting options for sweet and savory crepes along with breakfast options. the variety of beverages was good, as they offered a-few nice beers, coffee, some wines, and champagne. i enjoyed the goat cheese and walnut crepe, which has artichoke, goat cheese, walnuts, and fig jam. the flavors were complex, complementary, and well integrated. the ingredients also tasted nice and fresh. i would definitely go back to the french market.
