the fireside grill

the first thing when you walk in you smell amazing food (pasta) and everyone’s really calm and laid back. but when you go to sit down every single table is dirty which is why this isn’t getting a 4 *. there pos system went down but the staff didn’t know how to work around it and ended up being so slammed it’s their reason for not cleaning. the food is really good there are issues tho. my moms pasta was amazing she loved her salad. but they serve salads as a good portion of the menu and ran out of salad and mushrooms. they don’t have any mustard other than dijon and the ketchup isn’t heinz it’s some foo foo nasty fig tasting thing it’s disgusting. which is a reason why i didn’t give it a 5* is because your an eatery that has burgers but no mustard except dijon and your ketchup is nasty? i can’t have mayo due to an allergy so i’m left with a dry burger. come on please don’t patronize me i’m your customer you work for me i shouldn’t have to work for you and bring my own condiments. the food is all high quality and prob mostly organic it was one of the better burgers but i wanted a burger with sauce and i never got it so i can’t rate it better. the service is unfortunately really not that great. the staff is super friendly and super slow. it took 3 people to get our coca colas with only 5 tables in the entire bar. i will try again but i am going to bring my own condiments because their in house ones are inedible. their pasta linguini pomodoro is really good so i recommend that. maybe in the future i can change my mind but for now it’s a solid 3.

the good: service is great. 20 something beers on tap, over half are hoppy and or ipas. nice and comfortable in side.
the ok: the food looks great and decent priced, but in taste it just does not hit the mark. everything i have was ok, just needing that extra kick to get it over the bar.
for example the hummus plate needed feta and tahini in the hummus, less garlic.
another example: their chips look great, but were made hours earlier so they are cold and greasy.
another: breakfast, was ok but small portions.
they have some good ideas just need some help to perfect it.

this bar is a local hang in a strip mall but it's pretty cool. the staff is awesome, friendly, good at remembering faces. they have a mixed drink with the f-bomb in the name, what could go wrong? burgers are huge, sides can be only so-so at times, atmosphere is very comfortable. steaks are good, kitchen is consistent, place isn't pretending to be something it's not. i respect that. we like to go once a month or so.

i adore fireside! the stuffed gnocchi appetizer is delectable, all of the burgers (that come with homemade potato chips and gorgonzola cheese dipping sauce) are drool-worthy, and dave is a freaking mixology wizard that concocts the tastiest cocktails i've ever had! try a jasmine dream - my very favorite - or any of the other signature cocktails offered here. there are a lot of excellent things to try on the menu...we've never been disappointed. my favorite hang-out spot!

the fireside burger - egg, bacon, ham, cheese melting out the sides, and 1/2 lb of meat heaven... nuff said.

first and foremost, it's a bar. (okay, they cal it a "gastropub") regardless, no kids allowed.

good service but the good is fair to good. soggy chips and not the best burger in town.

2/5 score. no need to come back anytime soon.

i liked friendly staff and the atmosphere, but they delivered my chicken with a steak knife. the chicken was tough to cut and when i did cut it, balsmic sause splashed onto the side of my shirt. i was not impressed. the drink i had was also not so good. the dessert on the other hand was delicious.

best burger in town. i can not even explain how delicious and juicy the burgers are. try their food and you'll love it. i asked the waiter about the ingredients and he said they grind fresh meat every day and the potato chips are home made and absolutely delicious.

this is my third time dining here and every time i am very surprised how good the food is!! and the service is just as solid!
prices are very fair... the only let down is the decor is very casual, but everything else makes up for it!
if you want good food, etc... and can live without fancy decor and prices.... you should give this place a try!

so impressed. my new favorite restaurant in the portland area.
the food was divine (the gnocchi appetizer is a must), the atmosphere was great, and the service was maybe the best i've ever had.

very accommodating, friendly and kind. i will definitely be back.

best burger in portland! yes, better than "that" other place. and definitely get the homemade chips with gorgonzola cheese sauce. great atmosphere for business or casual dining with family and friends.

great hospitality, great happy hour menu and amazing hospitality. if you're looking for a place to go hang out with friends and watch the game, this is the spot.
