good steakhouse. the derby is an outstanding steakhouse with a good wine menu, delicious appetizers, and hearty entrees. the only downside is i'm not patient enough for their long dining experience very often.

very good classic steakhouse @ arcadia (los angeles). order shrimp cocktail , slow roasted prime-prime rib of beef (12-ounce derby cut , served w au jus and creamed horseradish) , rib-eye (20-ounce). tasty ! luv it !

this was a delightful spot to attend for lunch. staff were friendly from the moment i walked in the door. the server was very knowledgeable about the menu and attentive throughout my meal without being overbearing. my food -- bacon wrapped filet mignon -- arrived hot, delicious and well presented. i've been here for dinner before but not lunch. am so happy to have rediscovered this place as a lunch spot as well. excellent!

the derby offers a "nice traditional american meal" with pleasant service, and if you're looking for both of these elements in the area, the derby is a good choice!

service was excellent but the entrees fell short of what is to be expected from this restaurant. the bread pudding was excellent. unfortunately, the filet mignon was not tender and was strewn with connective tissue and fat.

we went on a friday night and was sat by the bar next to the lounge singer. nice ambiance, great food. i didnt care much for the bread they provided as a pre-appitizer. the crab-cake appetizer special was good along w the cocktail shrimp. for dinner, hanger special was cooked just the way i like it and the scalloped potatoes were a nice touch. the plating was a tad bit messy but all in all the food was delicious.

will definitely return!

...announced the derby as world famous. oft hyperbole, this institution has been around since 1922 and is seabiscuit jockey george woolf’s original restaurant. replete with gorgeous stain glass windows, old school red banquettes, a treasure trove of horse racing memorabilia, classy burnished wood and enough tiffany style chandeliers, lamps and candelabras to make an antiques store owner jealous.

amazing beef. hard to believe i'd never been there after so many years in so cal. i was treated to an incredible dinner (i think it was medallions of beef or tournedos, topped with a grilled tomato and shrimp--something like that) and i tell you, there were like butter! so incredibly tender and full of flavor, perhaps one of the best beef meals i've ever had. i didn't pay for the meal and didn't drink so i can't comment on the prices but i promise you it's not one i could afford very often! but then, i'm cheap.

when talking about high end restaurants in arcadia, there really are not many. sure, there are plenty of pricier restaurants like the cheesecake factory or din tai fung for that matter, but both are really quite casual. moving onto more formal restaurants
