i am happy to report that the curryer's rice is anything but dull. i'm not gonna lie, i have visited the curryer several times before. they are a food cart conveniently located a block away from my office. every day, they have four entrees, two vegan, and two of whatever the rest of the world eats. i try not to think about it. today i had the chana masala which is, as you can see, a base of garbanzo beans and fired tomatoes soaked in a flaming hot lava of indian brilliance. every entree comes on a bed of jazmine rice topped with a hat of freshly-tandoored naan. my chana masala was exactly what i was expecting, but no bombay house. i typically like my sauce to be a little thicker and not so watery, but the flavors were perfect. however, the naan at the curryer is top notch. did i mention they have their tandoor oven on their f

disappointed. i really wanted to like this place. i thought, a street vendor that sells indian food, cool! however, the reality was quite disappointing. my husband and i both had the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. the naan was delicious and authentic, the masala was awful. the sauce tastes ketchup based. seriously, the only flavor present in the sauce is tomatoes. bland tomatoes. masala is supposed to be full of tomato and cream, cumin, paprika, etc. those were all absent. if you're in a rush you'd be better off going to masala in sugarhouse or curry in a hurry on state.

get the jalfreze. definitely good value for the $5 i spent which included half orders of two (jalfreze and vindaloo) of the three main dishes on a bed of rice and piece of naan. the jalfreze was excellent with a nice flavor and moist chicken pieces.

the vindaloo and the saag were both surprisingly hot (spicy) and that heat masked the flavors of most of it.

we were cautioned that the naan was not in the best of shape but that's one of my favorite things so i asked for it anyway and wish that i hadn't.

nonetheless, for $5 i will try the curryer at least a few more times to see if they can work out the new business jitters.
