this place is awesome...there's absolutely no doubt about it. the crazy canuck is canadian gourmet at its best...comfort and deliciousness all rolled up into one. we've already blogged about them...we've sent lots of friends there way...after all, anyone who can make a delicious fried dough dessert smothered in house made jam with cinnamon sugar and ice cream deserves the kudos that they receive! so when we found out that they had recently renovated...we found a reason for a return visit post!

outstanding!. found this "gem" of a restaurant on urban spoon. after a hard morning of moving we were looking for a place that gave large portions at a reasonable price... we were not disappointed :) we had the pleasure of meeting the owners jeremy and fred who's entertainment and animated personalities alone were "worth the drive from kitchener" my bride who is a strict vegetarian made the comment that the ratatouille was "the best she has ever had" the pulled pork sandwich was perfectly done. if your headed to the st. jacob market do yourself a favour and give this place a try. you will not be disappointed :)

my new favourite restaurant. my girlfriend and i got lost on the way due to the directions posted on urbanspoon (look them up beforehand, it's by the antique shop in st. jacobs). when we got there we were greeted by the extremely friendly staff that worked there. extremely personable and genuine people that truly cared for their guests. i got a burger with bacon, cheese, mayo and jalapeños. i upgraded for the pulled pork poutine which has got to be the best poutine i've ever had. the poutine got topped with a side rib which fell right off the bone and their world class pulled pork. my girlfriend got the teriyaki chicken pizza which was also really good. i was extremely satisfied with everything. the staff there made us feel at home and the price was very good, costed me under 25$ for the two of us. we also spent some time after in the neat little antique shop. i would definitely say it was worth getting lost for. i recommend crazy canuck to everyone 100%.

when you inevitably find yourself making a day of visiting (what’s left of) st. jacob’s market, you may give glance to the antique stores and other outlets surrounding the cusp of it. if you’re like me, you may take a lifetime to slowly approach every building if only because you take a long, long time in life gathering interests and acting on them. years ago, i spent a good portion of my time antiquing, looking for anything made in occupied japan. i found like, two teacups. anyway, after that, and more recently, it was a serendipitous interest in cosmetics that had me looking for supplies in the bulk store next to the antique store. i know what you’re thinking. and you’re probably right. anyway, most recently, not a day or two before, i was told about the eatery sharing the space with both places. yeah, i saw it in the past, and acknowledged it. but like i said, it takes me a long time to act on interest. don’t live like me, kids. otherwise, you may regret having stayed away from the

surprisingly creative menu for the ambiance (license plates, album covers of canadian bands, obligatory moose...).

portobello burger a+, caesar salad needs a tad less dressing and cheese.

the crazy canuck was spectacular! small place, great helpful and genuinely friendly service. my food was amazing, i got the portobello mushroom burger which had goat cheese, peppers, onions and a delicious balsamic sauce. it came with a choice of soup or salad...and i believe there was a third option i can't remember. my friend ordered the pulled pork poutine. huge serving. uniquely delicious tasting gravy with cooked apples in it, which balanced perfectly. i'm impressed with this place and stoked because its 5 minutes away from where i live. i'll be taking everyone i know!

perfect balance. i heard about this place at school (conestoga) and checked it out to see what our grads are doing. i was floored. the food is delicious, the service is beyond what i could ever expect. we live in st. jacobs, so this is one of our new 'go to' spots. check it out, you will love it!

and now for something completely different!. my family has been scouting restaurants for our thursday night outs and have been nonplussed with most of the lacklustre diners and kid-friendly chain restaurants in town. the crazy canuck is a little further out for us but was well-worth visiting.

unparalleled service: patient and helpful, jeremy enjoyed helping us figure out what we wanted to eat. he spoke kindly with our kids and helped them decide on their order (a la carte! two custom mini pizzas and spinach salads with balsamic vinegar and olive oil), then endorsed my selection of "smoked meat poutine w/pulled pork, curds, 2 ribs and apple gravy". jeremy was happy to chat with the kids and even liked one of their suggestions for an unusual pizza and said he would give it a try. they were thrilled.

outstanding food: although the smoked meat poutine was probably not the healthiest choice, it tasted great (!). this poutine is highly recommended - wow! the kids raved about their pizzas.

custom experience: this is the gem of a hamburger place you will be glad to sneak out to when you want the unique experience of a caring staff, incredible prices and a uniquely canadian meal. about the prices: this is the first family restaurant in kw where i didn't feel like the goal was to extract as much $$$ from me with as little returned as possible. we felt as though jeremy genuinely wanted us to have an enjoyable, memorable and affordable dining experience.

although greasy and in a location you might wish were closer to "the city", the crazy canuck was an immediate hit with our family. i started an urbanspoon account for the sole purpose of leaving this review. we will be back.
