i came in there solo. i sat at the bar and had amazing service from the bartender greg. the jackson steak salad was amazing. i recommend anyone to try the food here.

did not disappoint. the food is really well done good. love the crab salad, sweetbreads, and the steak frites. the pork shoulder and cabbage rolls looked good...i must try it on the next visit. good prices for the portion size. good beer selection, especially the unibrouie draft. really unique menu. can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

i want to compliment the common on the effort it has put in to creating such a unique ambience. the place almost completely transforms at night. i noticed, however, that it was hard to taste my food due to the goddess like beauty my waitress possessed. if anyone knows the left index ring size of the brunette server that works there please let me know before she moves back to italy so sit on her throne.

food. the food was great (chicken and waffles). i also had the opportunity to meet the head chef jesse who was extremely nice and genuinely seemed to care how people perceived his menu. the waitresses on the other hand i found extremely snooty and arrogant. if you're going to eat there get you have to get out your tightest pants and most vintage t shirt or you might have some akward hipsters staring at you for the duration of your meal. bottom line try the food and order for take out.

i had a waitress that was completely appathetic. the food was on a much higher par than the waitress. my overall experience was unfortunately worse than a grunge bar. sad to see such good food go to the way side of poor service.

underrated menu. i'm gonna start out by admitting that i frequent this establishment. now that's out of the way, lets get down to business. i've been an avid fan of this place since its old location. the room has gotten larger and the decor has transformed this new venue into an even more exciting and inviting place. but the biggest difference has been the new menu by chef jesse morrison. i've tried 90% of the menu and have found myself ordering certain dishes over and over. there's no denying the awesomeness of the chicken & waffles but treat yourself by trying the grilled salmon. its perfect for a nice meal before starting your night out. its not heavy by any means and leaves you with the same feeling of food satisfaction that you set out for at the beginning of the meal. and i recommend saving room for the chocolate nemesis dessert. i'm not a dessert person at all and i once found myself ordering two in the same seating (one i shared and the other was a lone venture). i read a comment about the service on one of the previous reviews but have never found there was even anything close to a 40-50min wait for anything. my personal experiences have been quite good and that's what keeps me coming back. a great meal and a great experience. i definitely recommend

different and amazing!. what a gem this place is.

watching their evolution from 124st to their new expanded location in the old martini's location on 109th has been a pleasure.

their greatest coup to date has been aquiring executive chef jesse morrison-gauthier. his creativity and culinary prowess have complimented the common's already amazing atmosphere, music and culture perfectly. his gastronomical delights will create cravings for food pairings you never knew existed. case and point: the crab salad.

some of my menu faves:

-the crab salad. (obviously. don't ask just try it. then try to tell me you don't think about it all the time. i was just saying today: "it's the stuff dreams are made of.."
- chicken and waffles. (a classic with a twist. the sauce and syrup that comes with this dish are divine.)
- lavender creme brulee. ( i love creme brulee and i have had a lot. this is the best creme brulee i've ever had. the lavender makes it refreshing in a way but so classicly creme brulee at the same time. a must have!)

they have a great antipasti plate and wine menu for chilling, sipping and chatting. they are also open for lunch which is an amazing boon for the downtown lunch crowd and last but not least they have patio tables for those amazing (fleeting) edmonton summer days.

what i love about the common is that it offers something different , local and delicious at an affordable price. in a stylish, upbeat atmosphere with great people in a great location. also, after dinner you don't have to go anywhere to hear great music and dance or just sip and socialize. like i said a true gem.

beautiful food, beautiful space. i love eating at the common, the presentation of the food is so lovely, and the room is gorgeous, it's perfect for dates, lunch with your girlfriends, parents, or even business meetings. as long as you are done your business by 10 because it turns into a sick dance club at night. i effing love the common!

gotta say- love the new location, decor is great, beer cocktails are yummy... and the place is a great party environment in the evenings, but the food is totally disappointing, sadly. eatten there a few times and havent enjoyed much of it... chicken and waffles are pretty good, quite sweet but probably the best thing i've had there. also- the cocktail menu looks fun and creative, but they are wayyyy to sweet... there's no balance of flavors. i like going there, so i hope the menu improves!

the common lounge. a quaint eatery and lounge / nightclub situated on 124 street and 101ave. an excellence space for a wine and cheese gathering.
