new owners, and still a great place.. there are new owners at the comfort cafe, as of august 2014, and they're doing a great job.

i went in for breakfast, and got a bagel with a generous helping of cream cheese, and an offer of more if i would like. madison served me quickly, with a friendly smile, and kept my lemonade full the whole time i was there, even after i had finished my food and sat around on the free wi-fi with my tablet. there is a friendly family atmosphere and large portions. i highly recommend checking it out.

great anytime!. a real mom & pop restaurant with home cooked meals. they have their roast beef and turkey wraps that a just indescribable when it come to flavor.

great breakfasts with grits always made right, biscuits and gravy with their own gravy that is to good, way to good!

nothing is on the steam table or pre-made waiting to be served. everything is made to order when you order it.

the one down side is that comfort cafe used to have dinner on friday evenings and that stopped. they really do need to get that going again because it was so very popular, you had to call ahead for a reservation. it made for a good place for a "date night" and the customer base was always there. we can only hope.

comfort cafe soon to be expanding!!. popularity has caused the patronage to grow so much that comfort cafe is going to be opening up in a whole new area. this is not really news, and has been planned for a while, but the customer base now makes more room a must.

the restaurant will be opening into the former dentist office to the north of the existing dining room. a wall will come down, remodling the office to a dining room and more seating. this is what success does for you and they, not anyone else, built this business.

go and enjoy the food and remember there is the friday evening dinners. always something different and always homemade.

and dinner is served!. house salad - what can you say about lettuce, it’s lettuce. but when the lettuce comes with small diced tomatoes, my favorite vs. a 1/4 wedge, and baby carrots, things are looking good. when there are raisins, things are looking really good. no cucumbers, no gas, and no onions just a good salad with a choice of dressings.

boneless chicken wings - 1⁄2 pound of medium sized wings served blackened, medium or hot spiced or with sweet chili. celery with blue cheese dressing comes with it. the flavor purist in me always goes for the basic flavor of a food so we ordered the medium spiced wings. these are to kill for! by themselves there is a presence of the chicken with the breading coating mixed in. the “medium” spice was in fact medium. it didn’t set your mouth aflame like you had just swallowed lava imported from an active volcano. instead is was a nice “warm” heat that didn’t require firefighter assistance. next visit, will be the blackened style.

parmesan crusted chicken - another “to kill for” dinner item. it’s everything the menu description says it is. (go read the menu). “ok, too much work? here goes. “juicy chicken breast coated in parmesan cheese & panko bread crumbs. pan-fried to a golden brown, served with cream cheese mashed potatoes. and creamed corn or dill green beans.” look up the word “comfort food” in the dictionary, and the parmesan crusted chicken’s picture is next to the description. one order is enough, but two would be better.

twisted meatloaf - ok, the game playing is over. not for the weak at heart. gettin’ serious!!! here. - the challenge of all food challenges is here! this meal will serve one diner more than enough for dinner, it would work great for two, hungry, people. i could only make it through about 1/3 before falling out and calling in a take-home box. i thought i’d done fairly well consuming as much as i did ... until lisa said that some little old lady about 80 was in the day before and had polished off the whole thing. boy, was i crestfallen!

first, “yorkshire pudding!” well it ain’t no puddin’ like i’ve ever seen!!! i’m used to those little jell-o pudding cups you get at the grocery store! a cup of soft, cold, mushy, creamy dessert you sit in front of the tv and snack on as a dessert. no ... nope, forget that idea. yorkshire pudding is this baseball catchers mitt sized, flaky “bowl” of a light crusty dough that serves as the “container” for all the other stuff! think about the shape of those taco salad bowls they have at taco bell ... like that only a soft flaky crust like you get with a fruit pie like apple, cherry etc. within the confines of this baseball mitt bread shell, is a layer of cheese mashed potatoes at the lower level. moving one floor up, will be the most incredible, wonderful creamed corn. (i absolutely hate creamed corn, but not this creamed corn.) surrounded by onion straws and dill green beans is the next stop, the executive level, with the meatloaf. the prime directive of the whole meal. so good, it is comfort food extraordinaire! other meatloaf’s fall to their knees, bow and pray toward the mid-west to all the cattle, both past and future, whose bodies did or will end up in the twisted meatloaf at comfort café. you will need an appetite to order this and a minimum of 30 or more minutes.

caramel apple blossoms with ice cream - for dessert, this is a sweet, flavorful pastry with a fruit filling in a folded “blossom” of light crust. (by themselves would be great really warm out of the oven or microwave with a glass of ice cold milk - 2% of course, for evening tv time.) this “blossom" with the ice cream made for a nice ending to a great dinner.

note, dinner is only served on fridays starting at 4:00 pm. be there!

comfort is an understatement.. when we walked into comfort café, all we heard was “hi, come on in.” we got a number of “hi’s” upon our arrival and that is a great way for a restaurant to start your day and breakfast.

right off you can see the atmosphere is one that is inviting and you want to be a part of it. the “wood” floors, well the kind of “wood” that comes in a box from a home improvement store really gave a homey, warm feeling and the wood tables and chairs all came together to give you that ready for breakfast relaxation.

comfort gravy, (breakfast) - the half order, 4.75 is plenty but the full order 7.25 is even better. homemade sausage gravy, over one biscuit cut in half for the 1⁄2 order, over 2 biscuits cut in halves, for the full order. the gravy is not your typical white gravy but has seasonings and is a light brown color that is a lot more flavor than you expect. the grits were very good all on their own. they weren’t yankee grits, all runny and wet like they make them up north like a cereal like cream of wheat. southern grits are white, and firm and aren’t a cereal. grits aren’t southern until you put enough butter in them so they turn yellow. these are good just as they came from the kitchen, but a little butter is always good. this is the only breakfast we had, but a return trip is to follow.

they serve both regular and diet water but you have to be careful as they think everyone wants lemon in their water and i say who wants your water to taste like pledge???

service was fast, and better than friendly, and was fun. we wanted for nothing and the refills were on the way without asking. coffee is good and hot with plenty of creamers and sweeteners.

hours are; tuesday thru sunday 7am to 2pm.
friday night dinner; 5 pm to 8 pm.
finally a “mom & pop” that is open for dinner!

for us this is a “go back to” restaurant.

and we did, see the dinner review.

grits!!!!!. we live in florida andy no restaurant can serve anything but quick grits? this place doesn't the use real grits made the real way. probably some of the best i have had and i lived in charleston sc for quite sometime. anyway the "mush" is fantastic.i know name sounds pretty lame but its fantastic and filling. i ordered a side of biscuits to slop up some of the good stuff, but not necessary as most would be stuffed without. can't say enough good about this tiny find. don't tell too many though:)

great breakfast. have eaten there several times for breakfast and it is always delicious and the service friendly. really liked the grits bowl with all the additional breakfast items in it! there is the standard breakfast selection which is always good. they also have a great breakfast combo type dish that they put scrambled eggs in, but we always ask them to put over easy eggs in it instead. one of our favorite breakfast spots!!!
