i had a great meal here. unfortunately stepping down stairs and meeting the to cool for school staff at the lower bar made me realize why i avoid super cool hipster holdover locations. mr. muscles was to preoccupied with his on awesomeness to take my order. i felt like the staff looked right through me. no bother. anytime pork belly is on the menu get ready for the accompanying white privilege.

second time at the alibi, both times a good experience. we have the hummus and the pork belly, both very very good. it's a small place and that adds to the unique environment. kitchens upstairs open and the kitchen staff always say "hey" when you come in.

go experience this place, its unique its fun and good food.

love this unusual place with good food and cold beer.

wow. what a hidden gem. hipster might be a good description but in a positive light. menu is truly creative from breakfast to lunch/dinner. the "seoul train has red potatoes hash, korean pork, soft boiled egg, spinach and sambal. for a sandwich try kermits egg consisting of pepperoni, hard salami, bacon, shredded mozzarella, pepperonicinis, vinaigrette
the menus is truly creative and worth trying
service is great. prices are reasonable. check out the menu i posted
definitely not your local ihop or deny's. it is far far better than both of them. tried their mimosas and it was good but the mix was more champagne skimping out on the orange juice.
come visit

great little hipster (i think) bar. it looks like it's in an old shotgun house. most of the seating is in the basement. it's cozy and the waitstaff was friendly and efficient although the food took a bit long. my first impression was good because they serve velo coffee, an instant plus and their cappuccino rivals that of velo and farmers daughter. breakfast was unique and delicious. i had the seoul train- potato hash topped with korean pork, spinach, sambal, crowned with a halved soft boiled egg. it was savory, spicy, perfectly cooked, and delicious. highly recommend this joint.

what a delightful surprise this place was. very creative sandwiches! for example, they serve a korean-cuban sandwich.

service, portions, prices were solid.

it's easy to label this place as a #hipster sandwich shop. however they're genuinely trying here. and it shows.

the bitter alibi opened just over a year ago and a lot has happened in a year! they’ve grown like a weed, expanding their space and adding brunch to their food offerings. i’ve got the lowdown for you!. first of all, let me say happy (belated) birthday to the bitter alibi. i’m sorry to be tardy to the party…i saw the post on facebook and just forgot to say anything. you’ll forgive me, won’t you bitter alibi? on july 3, this hip downtown chattanooga (former) hole in the wall turned one. they had a whole lot more than a year of serving up pints to celebrate, though.

this is a subtle little hipster bar. it's basically underground. itty bitty. but worth it if you are trying to hide out in chattanooga for the night and like playing uno or rook.

like a secret hideaway. i don't do the bar scene, but we really enjoyed the bitter alibi tonight--it's charmingly in a basement without being gross. it's comfortably small and has a great beer selection. i really like the crispin pear cider and a brown ale i had, both on tap, and the sandwiches are pretty decent. i got the roasted broccoli, which i won't do again, and the el hambre sandwich of shaved chicken with mexican spices, pepper jack cheese and spinach. there was supposed to be some pico de gallo in there, but i could have done with a lot more. chips are nothing special, though you can get some bbq sauce to go with them. i shoulda tried the beans and corn side that was suggested. i was looking forward to a chickpea salad i saw on the website, but that wasn't on the menu i received and i forgot to ask.

i had a hard time walking in the right door--there's an open sign in the house above the bar, but you don't go in that door, you go down the alley and underneath the back stairs into the big black door with a great chalk-like design on it. it was a great cozy place with no smoke, i will totally be going back!

an absolute delight. this place is so unique and interesting, it feels like a well kept secret. wonderful staff, great beer selection, and fun games provided. i've only had one sandwich but it was delicious! i've been back multiple times and will continue to frequent! absolutely love.

we were really happy with our experience at the bitter alibi. i’m sure that we won’t be going there on any late evenings…we’ll leave that for the college crowd and young folk (you guys, i’m ancient….

great unique take on bar food & environment. the only other bar that i've been to with the same type of environment was in salzburg, austria. a welcoming entryway with patio string lights leads you to the classiest basement bar you've ever been to. the environment is great for meeting people and trying some quality beers. make sure to try the food- it is the type of bar food you don't have to feel guilty about the next morning- in fact, you might even crave it at lunchtime. with menu items inspired by various dishes around the world, the flavors in the bitter alibi's food are memorable and engaging. definitely try it out.

awesome. this is my new favorite spot. i've been a few times now, and the staff is always friendly and helpful, the food is delicious (they even have a few veggie options if you're not a carnivore), and every time i've gotten a really good beer i've never had before. love it. can't wait to see this place grow.

chattanooga's best new bar/restaurant.. 1. completely unique atmosphere. basement setting with great lighting.
2. diverse beer selection. craft beer cans to regional draft to cheaper domestic options.
3. delicious food. i had the korean seoulful sandwich. they also use local vegetables and ingredients.
4. friendly staff
5. non smoking, clean, and refreshing.
