not that great.. there's a lot of hype for this restaurant but i've been there twice now and don't find it all that great. had the spicy basil tonight -- it had 3 to 4 pieces of chicken it and some panfried onions, green and red peppers. it's expensive, too, compared to other restaurants. they also don't refill drinks, which bothers me. if you want some good thai food, try the thai restaurant on noblestown road. it's also very cramped, especially on weekend nights. you end up listening to the person who is sitting next to you's conversation, which distracts and detracts. definitely not worth the money.

simple but good. dormont has been graced by/with this thai restaurant fortunately and i live very near-by so i've been trying various dishes out and liking most of them .
the soups are a bit on the thin side but tasty in any case.
they have a lunch special pricing deal which is more reasonable than their dinner prices which i think for dormont are a bit too high . apparently they also own "thai cuisine" in bloomfield which recently was renovated thru and thru . i have only been moderately impressed with that restaurant maybe in part because i haven't liked the feel and ergonomics of the former space. i've yet to try it out since they re-opened .
thai spoon is on the cramped side so , if you're claustrophobic, you'd best avoid it .
not the complex gem that a nicky's thai kitchen is but ... good solid entry level thai food ...

really good pad thai. just thought i'd give this awesome restaurant another good review. the people who work here are so nice and my boyfriend and i always enjoy getting some take out. the pad thai is awesome! love this place! will miss them in june/july!

yumyum. very good. i got the bangkok seafood and it was great, lots of different flavors and textures. tons of veggies and the sauce was really good. my boyfriend got the curry duck and he loved it, the waiter is very nice and informative. awesome to have this right across the street. definitely going back again.

great!. i live in dormont so we eat here frequently. i think its very good overall. to the blogger who criticized the curry: i understand. my mother-in-law always gets mildly spiced yellow curry and it tastes like coconut milk. i always get at least medium spicy, and as a result its very good. i would put thai spoon up there with the silk elephant and bangkok balcony in squirrel hill, as well as the former green mango in regent square. we also have gotten the pad tai frequently and i also think its quite good.

good choice!. overall, i was fairly impressed. i ordered chicken pad thai for takeout and it was very tasty. i might still give the edge in best pad thai to nicky's, but it's a close call. very cute and clean, but small on the inside. i'll definitely be going back.

i tried this place for the first time tonight. from the ignorance of the man answering the phone and not helping me through the menu (i ordered straight from the menu on here but acted like i was ordering in a different language) to the gristle, terrible taste, and extremely small portion for $13, i will not be back. too many other options for bad thai food. beware!

just ordered chicken pad thai and one order of thai spring roll for pick up. i ordered at 6:53pm. my order was not ready until 7:56pm!!! i was pissed. the cashier gave me my food, he assumed i already paid. i could have walked out but i didn't. i told him i did not pay yet. he said $17.02! i told him, do you realize i ordered this an hour and 6 minutes ago, can you help me with a discount, the person on the phone said it would be ready in 20 minutes!. he went in the back to get someone and she offered me a 15% discount. talk about insult to injury. i reluctantly took it. the food quality is good but due to this incident i will never go here again.

my wife raved about this place and from the service, cleanliness, food, and flavor she was right. everything done amazingly well. a tad pricey but very worth it.

i am never disappointed when i come here. every dish on the menu is delicious! the food is consistent and memorable. service is always good and the expansion looks great.

i absolutely love this place. it is fresh and delicious and wonderful. the service is great and i can't say enough good things. the tom yum soup is to die for. we usually eat here and get extra to take home because we love it so much.

the food served at this resturant is not at all impressive.  there is another thai resturant in dormont that is much higher quality with kind and humble owners.  i will not name that place within this review, but you can easily look it up.  i did enjoy the food at the sister company to this one in bloomfeild, but now i can not dine there and have told many friends who previously dined there about the moral and ethical code of this company, and they also will no longer frequent these absusive people.  no people with a good social conscience would!

disappointing. i ordered take out pad thai with shrimp. i thought the dish was bland and only had 7 small shrimps in the noodles with very few bean sprouts. i thought the price ($12.95+) was expensive. i will probably give the restaurant another chance because the reviews look good but will not try the pad thai again.
