bye bye taqueria mercado hello cancun forest park. i'm a weekly customer since day #1since that place has been open , more than 10 years , food is good but the customer service is horrible. after 10 years of loyalty they never say hi , how are you? glad to see you back ! how was your food.the owner , each time she see me , act like she never see me before or turn her head the other side.not very friendly staff.
we had a coupon for cancun in forest park , and i'm telling you, what a difference.food as good as taqueria mercado if not better , and the staff is so so much friendly.
so i guess cancun is getting my weekly business, $60 a week = $240 a month that taqueria mercado is going to loose.

food awful! drinks waaay overpriced, when my kid asked for another coke i noticed on the bill they charge me for another. i guess they don’t believe in soda machines there because your going to spend more money on soda than there terrible food. just awful!

this is as home made as it gets! they're open for breakfast so give it a try! the bakery is onsite so all the bread and tortillas are made fresh.

absolutely love this place ..... my friend took me to this place .... at first was not too convinced with his decision but then when i tried the chicken torta with horchata, the combination became an instant favourite .... the decision was made then and there itself to be there every week and had been there many times since .... finally to top it all we have the tres leches cake which is a must must must try for people with sweet tooth .... by now you would have realized if you have read my previous reviews that the sweet tooth statement comes way too often ... so go along with this combo and i'm sure you'll agree as well !!

loved it!!. so far there is only one other restaurant in the city that can give them a run for there money and let's just be glad that both of these places are no where near each other or me lol because i would be broke and fat lol. veggie tamale is delicious, it's very moist and very flavorful. steak fajitas is too good for words, seasoned well and so tender. beans and rice are suppose to compliment the meal and there's does just that, with also being seasoned well. it's so refreshing to eat food where the cook isn't afraid to use seasoning and or marinate the meats to get a great flavor! loved it!

favorite mexican restaurant. i love this place. i eat here for lunch 3-4 times a week. the food is fresh, delicious and not just typical midwest processed cheese-spread mexican fare. they use real ingredients, (queso fresco, jalapenos, cilantro, etc..), wonderfully seasoned meats and make their entrees using authentic methods not normally found in this part of the country. their enchiladas are made from fresh corn tortillas dipped in sauce before frying and then stuffed with fresh meats, vegetebles and/or cheese. the result is a soft, warm and delicious entree far different from the stale rolls we have come to expect elsewhere. their large quessadilla makes me happy just thinking about it, a large tortilla as big as a large plate filled with meats, onions and cilantro and light on the fresh mexican cheese, served with rice and beans, it is truly impressive. i could go on and on, taco salad, torta, burrito, tamales, fajitas. all are excellent. most places i go i get stuck in a routine just ordering the same thing every time, here everything is so good i struggle to pick which pleasure to indulge in each day. did i mention the wonderful freshly made salsa, compared to the lightly flavored tomato sauce served at other restaurants in the area, it in itself is enough reason to skip the bland and drive to fairfield for this gem of a restaurant. this is the most glowing recommendation i have ever written for anything and they deserve it.

great food. i agree with many other reviewers - this is much closer to authentic mexican than most other mexican restaurants. we frequent for lunch. great prices, great food. also be sure to visit the mexican bakery in the same strip.

real mexican food in cincinnati, not some tex-mex bs. that about sums it up. order a torta, tacos, or a quesadilla...and a draft beer (they come in huge frosty mugs.) the best. and it's inexpensive!

my fave in the nati. by far, my favorite restaurant in the nati. i think i once ate here 8 times in one month.. order chips and salsa.. its not free but the salsa is amazing and a little different each time. i always get a carnitas quesadilla.. simple with cilantro, cheese, onion and pork.. so good. nachos are to die for as well and my guy is always trying to get me to split them.. try the suadero (thin brisket) .. prices are super reasonable too.

the best deal in town. if you don't like taqueria mercado, you probably just can't be pleased anyway. my wife and i can eat there, with cocktails, for about 50% of what it costs us to eat anywhere in downtown cincinnati except for, perhaps, the taqueria mercado down on 6th st. i eat a different thing each time, and have rarely been disappointed. my wife always gets the shrimp salad in the taco shell bowl, and has a sad friday night if she can't go. highly recommended. i have no idea re the critical remarks in this page. maybe the cook was sick and they had a sub? the waitstaff all got to know us, and caters to my affectation of wanting to speak with them in my pidgin spanish. lots of mexican and south american folk patronize the place, and they are generally friendly too, if you don't act like a stuck up gringo.

best food for the dinero. as someone from la i can tell you this is as close to real deal mexican food as you're going to find in a 10 mile radius--and you get a ton of food for your money. i've been going for years--since it jumped in after the gyro joint closed shop. is it perfectly consistent? no--if you want that, go to applebees. what, they don't throw free chips at you? sorry. pay the buck, then get a fajita dinner for $10 and split it with someone. you'll come out way ahead, trust me.
ceviche made fresh every day. tacos with meat, onions, and cilantro on 2 corn tortillas--just like in ensenada. killer torta's, on fresh rolls made next door at the panaderia. hungry? grab a burrito, and see if you can finish it. i'm telling you, this place is awesome. a little funky, lot's of mexicans in the joint, and great food. if it's your thing, you'll be back often. if not, you're probably out of your comfort zone & used to midwest mexican, and that's cool too. less wait time for me.

great mexican in the northern suburbs. having spent 15 years in chicago i have been spoiled to great ethnic food. i love mexican food and have been so disappointed since i moved to cincinnai two years ago at the lack of authentic good mexican, at least in the northern suburbs. my first two experiences were with el barzon and el rancho grande. over-salted, over-seasoned and all drenched in some type of melted white cheez whiz aka creepy cheese sauce which locals i was with seemed to adore. yuck! where is the skirt steak? where is the melted chihuahua cheese? where are the chilis?

just when i had about given up it was recommended i try taqueria mercado. when i walked in i saw what, to me, is always a good indicator of authentic mexican... the clientele. there were more hispanic people than not so i'm thinking this is a good sign. it's not overly fancy which is fine with me. i'm there for the food. the salsa was fresh tasting and seasoned with chipotle chilis, something i have not gotten around here. the carne asada in my entree was thick, juicy, seasoned well and not overcooked. prices were reasonable. i've found a keeper.

love it. the most authentic you can get around here. you know it's a great place when all the locals eat there. tacos are simple and delicious. steak onions and cilantro with a hot sauce on the side. yes it is hot sauce so be careful.
