any place where the bartender asks your name up front has to be great, right? right! wings were awesome, and as a self-proclaimed beer geek, i love te beer selection as well. i come to alex. often for work, so will make this a regular stop. you should, too!

after a long first week back at school, all i could think about this weekend was sleeping in and lying low. the next few weeks are going to be incredibly busy, and all we wanted was a relaxing few days. friday night we decided to give mai thai another shot, as our first experience was excellent except for a bit of a hitch with the service. we followed the advice of our friends and ordered takeout, which was excellent. cashew chicken, pad thai, and veggie rolls all hit the spot. scott and i tried to start season 1 of game of thrones, but were sound asleep within minutes. epic fail. anyone watch it? what do you think? saturday morning we ventured down to potomac mills mall for a little post-school shopping. didn’t find a whole lot, so we took a detour to enjoy one of our favorite local wineries – potomac point. it’s idyllic there, a perfect country drive to make especially in the coming month as the leaves change color. saturday evening we braved the bad weather and had dinner at tj ston

yum. what sucks about this place is that with some of the best bar food around and a tv for every possible game on, the conversation with your friends really sucks! and let me not forget to mention that i can't get a decent blumpkin anywhere else in the city!

my favorite bar in the dc area; i go here every week! bartenders aaron and karen are wonderful, has a small town feel, always end up meeting new people! get the cheese dip!

i travel to dc and va every now and then and love to stay in alexandria because of t j stones. it sounds silly but a good beer at a place that feels like a home town pub can't be replicated. the food is good; i've had their bbq twice and a burger the third time. but the people that work here are the best. i love how they take time to shake your hand and ask your name, then spend the rest of your dining experience chatting with you like your a regular. thanks guys, i'll always come by when i'm in town!

service was a bit slow, but not annoyingly so (i think there was only one server covering the bar and the bar tables). my check was $10.90. pretty good burger for that, so decent value. i’d go back again.

this place is great!!!!. if you are in the area with kids - don't go to this place unless it is before 8pm. it is a sports pub and it really is not the place for children. i loved the atmosphere and the bartenders and manager were really nice. upscale sports bar is what it appears to be more so, again not for family dining unless you sit on the dining side and it is before 8pm folks!!!
brisket sliders and a side of sauteed spinach and mashed potatoes was delish! got to try the banana beer too. bartenders make a point of knowing your name and calling you by your name. wonderful touch. will definitely be back!!!

rude management. ok - we went to tj stones two times and had good experiences, so went back. they act as though they are "kid friendly", with kid menus, plastic cups and baby chairs. however, this time, the managers were at the restaurant and were highly annoyed we had children. granted, one of our kids was touching the lettering on the wall (directly above our seat), but one of the managers came by and noted that he spent over 5 hours putting that lettering on the wall (one slow guy) and for our kid not to touch it. fine. so, my husband left the restaurant with our two kids while i waited for the bill. my husband even apologized b/c our kids (ages 2.5 and 16 months) had cried, and one of the managers blew him off, saying "whatever" (in an extremely rude tone). this was not what we thought our neighborhood restaurant would be. it's fine if you don't want kids, but don't act like you do and don't market yourself as "kid friendly" when you are not.
on a positive note, the waitstaff is fantastic and the food is good. i just got a really bad taste in my mouth.
