symposium cafe restaurant & lounge

great for anytime of day!. i love the symposium, for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just for cocktails/beer. this restaurant has lots to offer, and i highly recommend it!

we went there for sunday cake special. buy one get one free cake on sundays. the size of the portions are depends on the cake you choose but they are still quite big. we tried 4 different ones. my favorite was blueberry cheesecake. i will definitely come for second slice :)

hit and miss. wasn't expecting much the first time i went but was pleasantly surprized. i had a steak which was very good however the surcharge for the blue cheese sauce which was no more than a tbsp. full was a bit outrageous. happened to be mussel night and they were quite good as well. my wife had the flat iron steak (or baseball....can't recall the cut) and strangely it came cut up like a stir fry....however it was quite good as well. the desserts look a lot better than they actually taste....they were ok. we went again for lunch this past weekend. our waitress was very good....attentive and accomodating. my burger however was a let-down. pre-fab patty....enuff said. the one bright spot was a basil dipping mayo that came with the plate....it was very good. my wife had a breakfast which was simply ok and my daughter had a quesadilla which she enjoyed. i will add another note if we indeed give it another shot.

honestly if i could rate a negative 10 for this restaurant i would. my husband & i went to dinner with 3 other couples and my husband & 2 others ordered a steak dinner for 25.00 a plate. all the steak dinners came served cold. they were sent back, they microwaved them and threw some sauce on it to warm up the steak. just as my husband was checking out his meal he noticed finger poke holes in the mashed potatoes. his dinner and the other two as well had finger poke holes in them.disgusting!!! we once again called over the waitress, she took them back, and new steak dinners were made. however the manager never offered an apology what so ever, but i demanded that all the steak dinners be at no charge. will never return!!

ummm - can you serve me please??. both times i've been here i've had to wait 10+ minutes to be served. then an even longer wait to get a simple drink order. remind me never to come here again.

notoriously bad service. the place 'looks' cool, so i've tried it a variety of times - bad bad service - and, everytime i go, i think, 'please, let it be better this time.' - but i've had enough. seven times is enough. having been in the 'biz for many years, i can tell the service stations and their methods are not arranged for efficiency - so . . . if you go - be prepared - you'll wait 10 minutes for a server, 10 minutes for a drink - and wilted green garnishes (because they sat under a heat lamp for 10 minutes).
sorry, symposium - get your act together.

as soon as i got my burger i lifted the bun to find a long black hair on the lettuce. pretty gross.

nice quiet place with old fashion booths for some great privacy. light, healthy and appetizing food. we loved the experience

went there on the weekend and left because we didn't even get our drinks after 20 minutes!! i don't get it , restaurant was empty and about 20 people on the patio . worst service ever

get the burger... avoid the extra cheese and the beer.. the burger is nice.. extra cheese is a tiny slice... the beer is always not cold enough.

hit and miss depending on the day.. symposium is a gamble. i've had great burgers there- and terrible burgers there- along with pretty much everything else i've tried.. i'm not sure if it depends on who is in the kitchen that day, but i've always found it to be either very good or incredibly mediocre. atmosphere is nice and the display of cakes is impressive. however i find the food to be vastly overrated, especially for the price.

ummmm..... so paid $12.95 for a pesto chicken wrap, while drinking out of a plastic water glass?
okay the ikea candles are nice.
great staff, but honestly food from the freezer section of sysco ...for $13.00?

i'm not sure what this place is trying to be--but its not working.

first time coming to this location. service was fast and attentive. mussels were pretty amazing! ordered the one in a white wine sauce with spinach. the cakes are also very delicious. it's pricey but the portions are pretty big. would definitely come back for mussels and dessert.

great food and service, cakes seem over priced :s. they have a great selection of foods, drinks, and desserts. i find the cakes to be a bit pricey though ($10/slice).

all i have to say is eggs benedict. that's all i order. love them. i did order salmon. never again.
