beloved by "real" tavern goers in mke for good reason, for a long long long time. and there's a reason we'd really like it to be a secret, but, like, as if that's even possible.... awesome cocktails, awesome food, and a strangely efficient and pro staff who probably haven't met dale carnegie despite their awesomeness. love it.

this is pub food at its finest. if this place were in seattle or portland it would be the coolest hipster spot in the city. i don't think that's what they were going for here and i imagine it has just been this way for decades. although it's a limited menu of americana they do an awesome job of it.

glad we made a reservation. my husband, daughter and i had dinner last friday night. we made a reservation and were seated right away. the wait for walk ins was 1 1/2-2 hours. the service was very good but very rushed. our appetizer was brought out within 3 minutes of ordering but so was the soup and salad. the entrees came about 4 minutes after that. i realize they were trying to turn the table but i don't like having everything brought at once and feeling like i need to rush through dinner.
the food was great. the onion rings, fish fry, shrimp and ribs and the special that night were all wonderful. the salad was not your typical side salad. it was fresh and tasty. the food was very reasonably priced as was the beer. the servings were plentiful. the wine was $7 for a small pour so i would suggest a different beverage. all in all, the wait staff was friendly, the food great but it was just too rushed. i would have preferred to have an evening out last longer than 25 minutes. i would go back again and recommend to friends but warn them that it might be an in and out dinner.

our go-to place. i love the swingin' door! the food here is consistently great... the reuben, sweet vermouth carrots, brunch, we've tried a little bit of everything and always been happy. keep it up!

best discovery of our vacation. love it, love it, love it. we walked in as a last stop of the night and wished we'd found it sooner. this is a bar that has all the right elements to make you a regular. great bar tenders and friendly service, low prices and excellent food. people obviously having fun, decor that is dark and sexy in a real classic, local joint way. we returned the next night, and the following morning for the brunch. easily the best eggs florintine i've ever had. what can i say, it's swingin'!
