sweet temptations

my favorite restaurant! i always get a bowl of tortilla soup, and the hamburger......literally drooling right now, and of course a slice of banana caramel pie!

the green chili stew is great! it is only served a couple days of the week so call and ask.

ok the place is family owned and it feels very homely and this is truly home cooking style. the desserts are good and the food is again good overall. i have had different dishes but the meatloaf and chicken fried steak is my favorite.

ok these are the only two things that i will say that i have small issues with.

1. i like the fact that both owners are always there overseeing the operation but they make way too much small talk with the customers. on more than one occasion i have seen that people are trying to eat and they get bombarded with questions from the owners. this reminds me of the owner of the italian restaurant on the sopranos that used to go butting into his customers conversations. this has happened to me so now i try to sit as far away as i can from them.

2. the restaurant is small and they have enough waiters but some how the waiters seem to take their sweet time even with drink orders. i noticed that since it is a homely environment the waiters spend way too much time talking with each other and the owners instead of serving the customers. 

if the food wasn't good i wouldn't put up with this.

always good. best cob salad. definitely try the tortilla soup & bean soup.

love this place!. i usually don't like salads, but st has this amazing grilled chicken salad. it is just so delicious. the desserts are so good too! i love their banana caramel pie and their banana split pie. super good food here.

best food ever!!!!!. i love the food at sweet temptations. the food is homade and delicious. i love their envueltos. their desserts are so good and tasty. their carmel pie is to die for. the owners are always working and have a smile on their face. they do a wonderful job delivering food if needed. i highly recommend this place! maggie lagrange

don't let the bad wallpaper & cheap decor fool you, the food is better than you think~way better. this place is the definition of 'hole in the wall'. it does taste like homemade anglo food. this is the only place (as of now) i enjoy the chicken fried stake, delicious. the unsweetened tea, food & service leaves you coming back to get a fix on your sweet temptation.

good place.. it feels like home made food. i love the tortilla soup and the massive amounts of food. also the lemonade and teas are the best.

i love this place! the food is exceptionally great, so fresh, such a wide variety of choices to pick from that everyone in the family can find something they like!
i found their website sweettemptationsmcallen.com and copied off their menu to have at home for when we do carry out. check it out because i bet you will like this place too!

loved it as a kid and now my kids love it...the pies are to die for however; i would pass on the soups particularly the taco soup. : (

time for another try. ok, after reading about how good this place is, the next time i am in mcallen i will try to stop by and taste the food. i am glad that this restaurant has maintained its excellence. oh, that funny little carmel banana pie!! seriously, i will give the place a try!

no temptation now. trust me, this place is not what it used to be. the old place had fresh tasing food that really was made fresh everyday. the soups were flavorful and the sandwiches filling. this place will never live up to what it once was. it is a sad thing.
