sundance foundry grill

one of the best things about living in this beautiful state, in my opinion, is taking a long drive in any direction. this past weekend was our anniversary and we decided to drive to sundance resort to enjoy the beautiful scenery and a meal in the mountains. we thought that instead of doing a fancy dinner, we would take clementine and check out sunday brunch at the foundry grill . the foundry grill’s concept is based on simplicity and getting back to the basics. it’s sunday brunch is no exception and we were delighted by every item we tried. we didn’t realize that sunday brunch was a buffet. since buffets can really be hit or miss, we were a little let down when we were told that there wasn’t a menu and that the brunch buffet was the only option. we were completely surprised that the buffet was actually outstanding, beautiful, and fresh. in fact, even after a few trips for different brunch choices, we didn’t leave feeling overly stuffed or full. this was definitely a testament to the qu

outstanding dinner. i had an appetizer of calamari. this was served with a bed of lettuce and i think a balsamic glaze over the top. it was unusual and good. i had a good caprese salad, this dish was very filling. for the main course i had the halibut on a bed of risotto. this was fabulous.

for desert we ordered the apple pie and the rasberry bread pudding. unbelievable....

mr. b. loved the atmosphere, loved the service. portions were small for the price. flavor was excellent. the rib-eye was chewy. i expected a better meat. never had a rib-eye that tough. all in the party had the same review.

the foundry grill located at the sundance mountain resort is a go-to favorite for my wife and i. the concept of the foundry is to break down the simplicity of american cuisine and going back to the basics. the atmosphere is a wonderful americana, mixed with the amazing sundance views. their simplistic menu features many local farm to table options. my go to is the braised short rib, paired with the yam puree it is a treat. definitely worth the drive especially during the fall, or as a pre-show dinner option before enjoying their summer theatre.

we here for kelli's 34th birthday (today). and it was great. everything we ordered was perfection and the buffalo burgers we had were the best burgers of any sort we've ever had in our lives (and i used to, and she still does, eat a ton of burgers of all

amazing garlic shrimp. this is the garlic shrimp appetizer to die for at foundry grill in sundance. it has orange and grapefruit slices with guacamole and some kind of garlic sauce from heaven. i'm salivating just thinking about it!

everything was incredible! i highly recommend the pork chop or the trout. that pork chop was stellar! the service was great!

great service, amazing food on every visit. we've been there several times, always consistent - one of the best in slc.

one of my new favorite restaurants in utah!. one of the best dining experiences we have had in a while (and we eat out much more than we should... just check out my profile).

we rode the chairlift and when we were done we had worked up an appetite... i don't know how since we just sat on the chairlift :-) we didn't have a reservation and we had a baby with us but they graciously seated us promptly and brought out water and delicious, fresh bread and butter.

we ordered the rotisserie pork based on several reviews. i can see why it gets rave reviews because it's the best pork i have ever eaten. the plating was beautiful, the asparagus was cooked to perfection, the pork was tender, the mashed potatoes were just right, and the cherries on top were literally a cherry on the top of a wonderful meal! i highly recommend it.

the summer vegetable linguini seemed like a good option but our server recommended a meat since it is a light meal. i chose the chicken and it tasted very good. i'm not going to say i didn't like the linguini because it was very good, but after tasting the pork it's hard to recommend anything else.

we finished off with the apple pie. it came with a ball of gelato (vanilla i believe?) and was pretty tasty. it is extremely sweet with the caramel drizzled on top so if you don't have a sweet tooth, you'll want to avoid this dessert.

the atmosphere was very enjoyable near the fire in the front. we could watch the chefs in the kitchen one way or admire the autumn leaves out the window the other way. in some ways it was romantic even though there were a few kids in the restaurant. in other ways it felt like grandma's house (albeit your rich grandma) because of the comfy cabin decor. the servers were friendly, quick, and knowledgeable.

i'm happy that we found another wonderful dining experience in utah even if it is up the canyon at sundance. that just makes it that much more enjoyable as you view the beautiful scenery up and down the canyon!

drinking them down with an owl bar signature drink called "the drewski", a shot of tequila with cinnamon and an orange slice, made the experience perfect. you will love the atmosphere at the owl bar...it's like walking into "the sting". it is fun and relaxed. perfectly charming and rustic at the same time...hoo, hoo.

mixed experience. i ate there last night with a group of six and the food was good. although the special recommended by our waiter, jay, was really quite bland. but five of the meals were very good...but the service wasn't very on, due to a large large group to drew away the attention of our waiter.

favorite special occassion spot. the atmosphere is awesome and the food is good. i will be honest, the food is not my favorite, but it is darn good!

great view and atmosphere!. loved going here; such a beautiful view and it was nice sitting by a fireplace while we ate such a nice dinner!

yummy. this is such a great place to eat and just be. sundance is so amazingly beautiful all nestled up in the provo caynon. food is fantastic and reasonably priced good for a nice evening with or without the kids!!!

been here many times. absolute favorite for sunday brunch. never had a bad meal at the foundry grill. dinner is a delightful experience. great atmosphere, straight forward menu, and good service. last time i was there i enjoyed a beet salad and a buffalo ribeye. simply amazing.
