best oatmeal anywhere. we stumbled on to the sb cafe. have eaten there 3 times now. it has become a favorite. the oatmeal is unbelievable...a must. the owner couldn't have been nicer and told us that the oatmeal recipe was his grandfathers. everyone was so pleasant.
the breakfasts are huge and well worth the long line out the door. their sandwiches are also huge. a 1/2 sandwich was a meal.
this is our favorite eatery in auburn, wa. please open for dinner!

my very favorite sandwich! the california blt - a blt with avocado. i always get the half sandwich because the bread they use is enormous

great sunday treat. don't let the line scare you the food and service is worth then wait. service like at mom's place - frenzied, friendly, and down to earth. big serving sizes so slip everything. oh and don't skip the cinnamon roll! if you get chris as your server ask him anything, the guy will chat on any topic.

breakfast before the ponies. the perfect spot to stop in and fill up before heading over to emerald downs for some pony action. the line may appear long so expect to wait a while, see you have to wait in line for your turn, they don't make a list to seat you. even with as busy as it can be for breakfast the service is always pleasant. the portions are huge yet full of flavor and they have some interesting creations, though the one i found gross was celery in an omelet for some reason that just sounded disgusting to me so i didn't order it. but if you do order an omelet i suggest just ordering a half because a half is big enough to feed a family of four at least it looks that way. the biscuits and gravy are a good choice as well and will definitely fill you up all day.

super friendly, very casual lunch deli counter. portions are huge! and pricing for the ingredients is spot-on. anytime i’m working in auburn we’ll be back.

read lots of the negative reviews and i think some people just shouldn't eat out. don't expect a local diner to be a 4-star restaurant. sun break has good food. we had friendly service. order half portions.

three for a late sunday breakfast. i had an auburn scramble with a marionberry muffin, my wife had eggs benedict, and our grandson an apple-cinnamon pancake. all were half orders because we noticed the huge servings coming out of the kitchen while we were waiting to be seated. my grandson's meal turned out to be the only good selection. i quietly ate my scramble while trying to identify the odd taste. i figured the scramble had been prepared on the griddle after cooking fish...at least that's what it tasted like. my wife asked how my meal was, and i said "not to be repeated". about then, the grandson decided syrup might serve a purpose applied to the table...hey, accidents happen. this one interrupted our food quality discussion. none of us could finish our 1/2 orders because  they were still too large. as i pointed my vehicle towards montana, my wife said she would not eat there again because the huge serving of hash browns had a very odd taste. this was unacceptable since the potatoes made up 90 % of her meal by volume. after we discussed the potatoes, we are eagerly waiting to see what the evening holds from a stomach cramp perspective.
our opinion...as popular as this place appears to be, it may have been a bad day for the cook or the high rating is based more on volume than food quality.
when we were checking out to pay our bill, the gentleman at the cash register rudely told us to make sure we tipped generously. we did take care of our server...her efforts should not suffer because of this unprofessional and crude check-out experience.

just passing through and stopped by based on zomato review. as others have said, the portions are huge and the food is good! i would like to stress the friendliness of the waitstaff. when i said i was surprised there wasn't a line, our waitress said there was a big log show in buckley. i knew my husband would love it. others came by to tell us all about it. we will have fond memories of this place. thx!

owner is an arrogant and rude man!. sticker shock at the menu prices! i've worked in the food industry for over 17 years. from dishwasher to chef, to distributer and every level in between! when we decided to not eat after seeing the prices and being told to sit "where ever"...we decided to pay for our tea and leave. when i mentioned that the prices were absurd! ($18 omelette for one of many examples) the owner came over and started berating me and was appallingly rude! he told me to gtfo and he was calling the cops. obviously we were already leaving, so while i waited for my girls to come up front he continued his threats and arrogant rudeness! i swear his prices must be so high only to pay for that open chest surgery he had not too long ago. i might also mention the last time i was there, seven years ago there was a huge line out the door, this time the place was half empty! now we know why! if it were the 1890's he'd be wearing his chaps over his head, riding his high horse backwards into the sunset after i was done with his ass!

always a long line to get it on weekend mornings but that is to be expected. prices are a little high here but the proportions are huge!! i would recommend either sharing or getting a half order unless you can really pack it in or you want leftovers. kitchen can seem a little slow but i have always had friendly servers who keep the coffee coming while you wait for your food.

great service and ambience at the sun break. i just came from the sun break and it has not changed since i first stepped foot into it at their old location, till now. carly was our server and her friendly smile set the tone for everything. service was stellar, with someone coming to top off my coffee every 10 to 15 minutes. the smiles on those that worked there told me that this was a good place to be. i didn't get to talk to the owner, whom i believe was the tall gentleman who was one of those topping off clients' coffee cups, but i did talk to some of those who came in and like me, had nothing but good things to say about this establishment. i was saddened to hear though that the city of auburn wants to shut it down in order to build yet another parking garage at it's location. this cafe has been a landmark of auburn for as far back as i can remember, having grown up in the area and it is sad to hear the news. i am not sure if there is anything going on to gather support for it to be kept up and open, but if there is, they will certainly have my support. hopefully when i get back, maybe next year, as i am stationed in fort campbell, ky, here only for my kid brother's wedding, it will still be around.

first went there for lunch after leaving work early. there was a line but like others have said it is well worth the wait. grabbed the wife that weekend and went down for break. we were pleased with the large amount of options they had for breakfast. the food was delicious. it instantly became one of our favorite places. they are busy. but there is a reason for that. good job you guys.

don't go!. we went for breakfast and the service was horrible. we were never greeted, we were seated and never even spoken to. the waitress didn't even show up for 15 minutes. we would have left but we had limited time due to a function we were attending. finally a young gal busing tables (not the waitress) offered us some coffee, but it was never refilled. there were plenty of employees , but they were all too busy socializing with each other to bother with the customers. my daughters chicken fried steak was burnt, and we couldn't even ask for them to remake it as our waitress never returned except to throw the receipt on the table as she ran by. i could even ignore the terrible service if the food was good, but it was not. quantity is not everything if quality is awful! do not waste your time.. go support another small business in auburn that takes care of their customers!
