everyone should experience the chefs table at state of grace at least once in their life . beyond amazing and it changes depending on the preferences of your party.

every time i’ve tried to make a reservation they seem to be full. finally got in and will make an effort to book far enough in advance in the future to return. this is a place to come with a group and try everything. we had a wonderful meal – hush puppies as advertised are great although they are dusted with powdered sugar which was a bit odd for an appetizer. the duck is to die for even my wife who doesn’t like duck raved about it. all the prices are a bit high the overall ambience is fairly casual. the bar scene is pretty active. the wine list is a varied many high priced domestic and imported but pretty good selection by the glass. the people around us had oysters and the red fish and were pleased

fantastic quality and southern charm. ford fry's concept with chef bobby matos at the helm delivered a spectacular brunch for a recent family birthday. everything from appetizers to dessert was impeccably executed with precision without being pretentious. hush puppies with gulf crab, dusted with powdered sugar, and accompanied by steen's cane syrup butter, plus the deviled eggs with prosciutto and chives were memorable. my son loved the chicken fried chicken with sausage gravy, two eggs, and flaky biscuit. my choice for the day was the shrimp enchiladas with chili gravy, two fried eggs, rice and borracho beans. whatever your meal choices, please order at least one sticky toffee pudding with malted milk ice cream to share for dessert!

it is difficult to lump sog into one of the usual cuisine options because "perfect" isn't an option. service has been excellent for my three visits, too.

bring lots of cash.

visited for lunch. thoroughly enjoyed arugula salad with seared tuna - just a bit spicy, but the flavors were so vivid. sampled the corn ravioli, which was delicious. hush puppies are top notch, as far as those go. they can make you a believer in brussel sprouts as well. attentive staff, great interior (smaller dining room good for lunch conversation), beautiful bar. will return. valet parking only.

this is a restaurant that totally blew me away. if i could give it six stars, i would. the intention/premise is to feature dishes that are beloved here in houston. the kitchen has succeeded. i will let my photos do the talking instead of nattering on about how wonderful state of grace is. highly recommended.

killer new hot spot in the former cafe beignet spot.  great overhaul of the former space, including a giant marble bar, bronze chandeliers, and a classy look and feel.  make reservations and enjoy yourself.  went here for new year's eve, which is typically a no-no when you want to try a restaurant.  not only did it not disappoint on new years, but is also now my top recommended restaurant to friends on any night.  $1.00 oysters at happy hour, daily, and weekend bunch.  welcome back to houston, chef.
