sky canyon by stephan pyles-love field airport

i don't generally expect much from airport food outlets so sky canyon definitely exceeded expectations. the ceviche with tuna, cilantro, chimichurri, pineapple and toasted pepitas was fresh and zesty, and toasted tortillas were the perfect accompaniment. this review is for the dfw airport restaurant.

good place for a quick bite to eat prior to a flight. hard to find quality food at an airport, but this place is quality. highly recommend the brisket tacos.

this is for the dfw international outlet andy! is amazing he is so sweet and all round great customer service! really hope he gets the appraisal he deserves!

if you find yourself at the newly fabulous revamped love field airport you need to stop here. chef pyles never disappoints and this gem is no exception. prickly pear margi (margarita) check! tex mex trio on point! skip over the imitators...(sorry not sorry cantina laradeo) and get here before you board.

great food and service!. as i had time to kill at love field, i decided to have a sit-down lunch here. both the lunch and service were excellent. the shrimp and grits were a bit unexpected in the execution, but were delicious. i had never had grits with a texture quite so big before and found it a wonderful new experience. that is what this place is all about, and it seems many people writing reviews do not "get" that.

obviously, i cannot speak to the service commented on in other reviews, but as for the food, it would seem that some people simply do not understand the restaurant or its cuisine and are making unfair assessments. paul m. wrote the best review on yelp addressing this problem:

"first of all, i suggest ignoring these one star reviews people are writing, as they don't seem to understand the concept of inspired food. if you are eating here expecting average everyday favorites, this place is not for you! what sky canyon serves is the ultimate in southwestern cuisine crafted by legendary chef stephan pyles."

i also found the service to be excellent--attentive, but not too much so. next time i fly through love field, i will do everything i can to make time for another great lunch!

dissappointed. my husband and i were hungry and we had time to kill so a sit down place sounded great.. love airport has many fast food places, but sitting and eating comfortable was what we were looking for . the menu had something for everybody. after ordering our drinks our server offered some suggestions, we decided to order the tacos and the meatloaf. the tacos were very good. the meatloaf is rolled in bacon.which was seated on top of mac and cheese. he top of the bacon part on the top was very crispy but the meatloaf and the bacon were raw inside and the bottom. i figured they just didn't cook it long enough. we let the server know and she took it back. i assumed she was going to cook it. she came back a little later and said its not raw its the lighting in here. i said well this is raw bacon and i just don't feel comfortable eating it. she left the plate and came back with the check. i could not believe that i was not cooked longer,offered something else and then charge me. i'm not the type to say much of anything when i eat out, ( i really hate complaining) i just have never have been treated that way in a restaurant. the meatloaf was $21 the tacos were $10. customer service zero!!! we paid and left and i got a doughnut instead.

tacos pretty good. service sucked. prices are what you would expect in an airport $10 for two tacos.

this is so ridiculously over priced!!! we got the tacos- $10 for two tacos that were a bite each! and the salad was really about the size of a side salad. so disappointed. all i could say positive was the stuffed jalapeños were amazing but again for $10 i expected more
