great bar. they should 86 the food menu. have visited several times(mostly for drinks). if i was starving and had no other choice but to eat at sine, then i would but that's only if its a life or death situation. the food, in concept and execution is absolutely horrible and the service even worse. microwaved green beans accompany low quality crab meat in a ball which is deep-fried and called crab cakes (this all served on top of mashed potatoes). hey chef.... 1970 called.. they want their menu back. yup, its that bad. instant grits in cake form and deep fried, are served underneath over-cooked, not de-pooped shrimp with horrible charred sausage and raw onions and peppers (they call this shrimp and grits)haha. the bartenders are complete a-holes and the managers are not that much better. the only thing that the staff is good at there is kicking people out.. they love that. but as far as giving someone a good dining experience, they drop the ball every time. actually the foh staff is good at one thing, and that is not sucking as bad as the boh staff.. so keep up the good work bob(general manager)..and chad(chef) you could at least wipe the rims of the dirty, ugly plates that your lazy, disgruntled kitchen staff puts out. and as for bartenders, the guys are as disrespectful as they come and the girls look like trolls. so if youre reading this, and you have to go to sine, just get a couple drinks

food is not that great. the atmosphere outside is great. plenty of seating and room outside. the side food pesto pasta is pretty horrible. the philly cheese steak was very plain and was mostly bread. i usually can eat just about anything.

good atmosphere. as far as irish pubs go, this is what you would expect, and a great experience. as a vegetarian who tries to avoid fried food though, the food is...also what you would expect from an irish pub. the beer is vegetarian though, so no worries!

i absolutely adore this pub. my husband is addicted to the shepard's pie and peach cobbler and i am partial to the meat and pasta (guinness roasted beef and potato gnocchi lovingly adorned with peas and onions) and the car bomb cake. we've eaten here more than a dozen times (we bring all out-of-town visitors here) and have always had an awesome meal. the service generally lacks personality, but the staff can always recommend a great beer so all is forgiven.

awesome decor, unreal selection of tasty beers, great vibe and feel, avoid the wings and bearded d- bag bar tenders. great place, "clicky and pretentious help."

apps and desserts. the highlight of the menu by far is the appetizers and desserts. the irish nachos (fried potatoes smoothered in cheese, sprinkled with bacon, jalapenos, tomatoes and finished with ranch) is a meal within itself.

the inside is unique, not just a bunch of garbage bought from some warehouse and hung on the wall.

friends and i had a great time at sines's. i'm not terribly excited about irish food... but this place was probably the best i have had. my wife and i went here with another couple where we enjoyed a great dining experience. we went here on a weekend nigh and the place was not busy at all. i think the part that made the place so great was the friendly couple sitting behind us. the beer was fresh from the tap and the seats were pretty comfortable too. my shepards pie was one of the better ones i've had in a long time. the portions overall were large enough for the price.

sit by the window and enjoy some of the nightlife on the street, you'll love it!

good food and lots of it!. yes, it's noisy . . . it's a bar! ! nice selection of beers on tap! an eclectic menu and, for downtown richmond, moderately priced. nice portions - leftovers in the frig are calling to me. the mashed red skin potatoes and green bean rounded out my plate and are delish. i had a properly grilled skirt steak (mr) and my bride had the crab cakes - excellent! with a salad and the hot fudge brownie & ice cream . . . we rolled out the door!
ignore the reviewer with the nyc irish pub & guiness beer "issues" - he never says anything constructive about sine' - except, he doesn't like the floors (fortunately, i didn't eat my dinner on the floor, i sat at a nice table with silverware and a linen napkin ! ).
worth a look!

brawls, po-po, and great music. the wines are slightly better than blah (i can't drink beer). the food is above-average bar crap (i had the quesadillas). but the band effing rocked. the place gets crowded and is a drunken blur of riff-raff, even if it's not st. paddy's day, but it's great fun. so an occasional random will sit at your table and swear he knows someone you're related to. it's cool. makes for a good adventure. you can go early and get a booth by the window, so you don't have to stand the whole time, and that way you can leave when riots break out and cops come.

when irish eyes are smiling. i once got caught up with a group of people in new york excited about st patrick's day and wearing lots of green to prove it. they took me to an irish pub and tried to convince me of the rectitude of several things that are patently untrue.
the first of these is that guiness is nice and/or good for you. it is not. it is a pretty foul drink invented as a substitute for solid food. you could do better with squid's ink, vodka and a reasonable blender. the other was that being in the middle of a screaming drunken crowd of people claiming some sort of connnection to "the auld country" is in any way a fun thing to do. or that listening to the appallingly mawkish ballads that pass for irish folk music and make conversation impossible guarantees for a good evening. it dont.
to this list of unpleasant things to do in the evening the sine irish pub has managed to add a menu that appears to have been the result of an irishman fighting with the founder of mcdonalds. it is uneatable. you would have to completely drunk to order it and helplessly intoxicated to eat it.
the barn-like floor area is uninviting and the staff indifferent. i never doubted that the irish came to american to find a better life, but that they thought their idea of pub life would improve it was cleary wrong. try it and see.
